Robert Dean Byrns, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Elwood Care Center in Elwood.

He was born on March 15, 1945, in Lexington, Nebraska to James and Verna (Rasmussen) Byrns. He attended Lexington Public Schools and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of (1963?). After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and began his training at boot camp. He was later discharged due to pre-existing heart problems. However, he didn't let that stop him from taking to the skies once he received his pilot license.

Robert spent many years working as a self-employed carpenter and in his later years worked at Tenneco-Monroe and Tyson in Maintenance. He loved working with his hands and making crafts. His specialty was creating marvelous, handcrafted tables from tree stumps.

During his younger years, Robert enjoyed playing foosball and competing in tournaments. He loved getting to relax and have a good time with his friends and family, playing cards, dancing, attending concerts and performing some original music on his guitar.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, Jason and his sister, Betty.

Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Janice Byrns of Lexington; daughter, Beth Byrns of Lincoln; son, Ben Byrns; stepdaughter, Hannah (J.C.) Kleewein of Maxwell; grandchildren (not sure how many) brother, Jim (Phyllis) Byrns of Johnson Lake, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
