Karen Kay Mingus Turechek died Monday, July 18, 2016 in Plano, Texas. A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Karen was born Feb. 4, 1945 in Lexington, to Maynard and Gracie Mingus.

She grew up and attended Lexington schools, graduating in 1963 from Lexington High School.

She married Robert Turechek March 7, 1965, and they were happily married for 51 years.

While living in Texas, Karen was a social worker for a Battered Woman’s facility and later accepted a position as the director’s assistant in a child development program at C.U.M.C. in Farmers Branch, Texas. Children all know here as Miss Karen who would always help them with any problems.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; her three children, David, Troy and Tami, and her four grandchildren, Dawson, Abigail, Gabriel, and Victoria as well as her aunt Harriet Stork.

Preceding her in death were her father, Maynard, mother, Gracie and brother, Kenneth.

Karen’s death follows those of her brother, Kenneth, her father, Maynard, and her mother, Gracie.
