Paul B. Woodside, 78, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Christian Homes in Holdrege.

He was born December 23, 1933, at Lexington, Nebraska to Harold and Rosa (Schwarz) Woodside.

Paul was a graduate of Lexington High School and was united in marriage to Darlene D. Steinbeck on May 29, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. One son was blessed to this marriage, Randy.

Paul served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until being honorably discharged in 1958.

Paul worked for several years in management at the Excel Beef Packing Plant in Darr. Paul and Darlene lived in Lexington for over 40 years, then in Kearney. In Lexington, Paul served as a Boy Scout Master and helped coach Little League baseball. Due to failing health, Paul was living at Christian Homes in Holdrege.

He loved playing cards (especially pitch), making leather wallets and latch-hook rugs, spending time with famiy, showing off his grandson, and working puzzles. He and Darlene attended Fairhaven Baptist church in the country east of Lexington, which now sits at the Dawson County Historical Society.

One grandson: Ryan Woodside of Lincoln, NE

Four brothers: Leroy Woodside of Kearney, NE

Bernard and wife Judy Woodside of Holdrege, NE

Wayne Woodside of Odessa, NE

Mick and wife Rita Woodside of Kearney, NE

One sister: Viola Woodside of Lexington, NE

Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene on September 8, 2011; and several siblings.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor A.L. Cole officiating.

Visitation will be held that same morning from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

Memorials are suggested to the Phelps Memorial Health Center Foundation.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Military Honors.
