Gordon Eugene Rimpley, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at his home.

He was born October 19, 1933, in Lexington, Nebraska, to William and Icis Mary Betsy (Smith) Rimpley. He married Edna Joyce Reichert on May 27, 1954, in South Dakota. Four children were born to this marriage; Tim, Todd, Tamara, & Teresa.

Gordon attended Southward Elementary school, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1953. He enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard in 1952, and served eight years.

Gordon was a hard worker, and a good provider. He loved and was very proud of his family. His family worked and helped him whenever he needed them. They each learned many life skills that are useful in their own lives.

When he built the country home on the back property, he made it accessible to all his children, and grandchildren. There was hunting, fishing, camping, swimming, canoeing, and hiking. Most of all many fond memories were made of river rides, hunting for Morel mushrooms, and asparagus each spring.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Edna Joyce Reichert Rimpley; two sons, Timothy William, and Todd Alan; two daughters, Tamara Sue, and Teresa Lynn; eleven grandchildren; Michael, Ashley, Alicia, Macy, Kyla, Brady, Ella, Aaron, Brandon, Nickolas, and step-grandson, John; seven great-grandchildren; Tyson, Cooper, Madalynn, Samantha, Adalie, Jace, and Banks.

Preceding Gordon in death were his parents; two sisters, Loretta Crawford, and Reba Beshman, and her husband, Ernest; two brothers, Harold and wife Vera, and Clayton and wife Phyllis; nieces and nephews, Phyllis, Donna, Larry, Dennis, Kirk, and Sharon.

It was his wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Eddie Mariel officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Public Library, First Presbyterian Church, or for a tree planted in his memory at the Dawson County Historical Society.
