Rosemary JoAnne (Lauby) McCarthy, 75, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington passed away on May 18th, 2019 at Brighton Gardens in Omaha.

Rosemary was born to Cletus and Mary (Wilhelm) Lauby in Lexington, Nebraska, on November 26th, 1943.   She attended Lexington High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Neil McCarthy. They were married, on January 28th, 1961.

They made their home and started their family in Lexington where Neil served on the police force. After moving to Omaha in 1991, Neil & Rosemary started a daycare, sharing their home, time and love with many wonderful children over the years. Later in life, they enjoyed camping, often serving as campground hosts.

Rosemary is survived by sons, Jerry and wife Lori of Blair; Chris and husband Jimmy of Omaha; daughter, Trueline and grandchildren, Mason, Evan, and Dominique. She is also survived by sisters, Shirley (James) Richey of Loveland CO; Kathy (Darrell) Bliven of Omaha; Cleta (Jack) Brown of Ravenna; brother, Jim (Gail) Lauby of Elwood; Sisters-in-Law, Patricia McCarthy-Flaig, Twila McCarthy, & Mary (Harley) Nichelson and Brothers-in-Law, Verne Ratcliff and John (Bonnie) McCarthy.

Rosemary also loved the girls whom she cared for since their childhood; Maddie, Josie, Alex, & Katie Bohn

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius “Neil” Francis, son, Robert Anthony; infant daughter Christine Ann; granddaughter, Kristina Marie, infant grandson, Tyler Anthony; parents; and sister, Patricia “Patti” Ratcliff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating.

Interment will be at St Ann’s Cemetery at Lexington. Family & friends are invited to a luncheon after the burial at Kirk’s Restaurant.  

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. at St Ann’s Catholic Church prior to Mass.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
