Robert "Butch" Van Cleave, 54, of Heartwell, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. Memorial services were Friday, March 21 at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden, with James Albers officiating.
Butch was born on March 30, 1953, at Lexington, to Raymond H. and Agnes (O'Meara) Van Cleave. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1971. Butch had worked for McAlevy Construction and other construction companies in Kearney for many years. He also worked for Miller the Driller in Minden, Kully Pipe and Steel in Hastings and was presently employed for A-1 Fiberglass in Hastings.
Survivors include his friend and companion, Linda Ceballos of Heartwell; Linda's children, Toni, Bodie and Ruth; her grandson, Jaydn; one son, Scott Van Cleave; three brothers, Raymond Van Cleave of Warren Ohio, James Van Cleave of Blair and Dennis Van Cleave of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Alice Vollmer of Kearney and Mary Ann Bliven of Kansas City, Kan.; one granddaughter; four nephews and three nieces. A memorial has been established in his name.
