Stephen Lyn Anderson, 83, of Omaha, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Hillcrest Shadow Lake Nursing Home in Papillion.

We will hold a closed-casket Celebration of Stephen’s Life on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Braman Mortuary SW Chapel in Omaha with Pastor George Pearson officiating.

Family may pay their respects at a viewing starting at 12:15pm. Stephen’s casket will remain open for 30 to 45 minutes. It was Steve’s wish that you do not cry because he is gone but to smile remembering him at the wheel of one of his classic cars that was your favorite.

Stephen was born November 11,1939, at Cozad, Nebraska, to Arthur and Fern (Penn) Anderson. The family moved to Lexington shortly after the death of Arthur in 1952. Steve graduated from Lexington High School in 1958 and later from the NE Banking Association’s Principles of Commercial Lending School. He served as an E2 Private active-duty soldier in the National Guard in high school until honorably discharged on March 12, 1959. Not long after high school graduation, Steve enlisted in the Army Reserves being appointed Specialist Five E-5 on March 7, 1964 and served until his honorable discharge on January 20, 1965.

Steve married Sharon Ellen Glen on April 16, 1961. They had one daughter, Stephanie Lyn, born April 2, 1963 and one son, Britt Alan, born April 21, 1966. Steve bought a farm outside of Lincoln several years before moving to Omaha, having retired in 1994. He was not fond of big-city life. Sharon loved it.

Steve was a charter member of the Goldenrod Car Club, a lifetime member of the Chamber of Commerce Diplomats, a member of the American Legion, owned S & S Auction Clerking, and served on the Board of Directors for Lexington State Bank and Seven Valleys State Bank in Callaway.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Stephanie Cosgrove, and son Britt, all of Omaha; brother Richard of Pleasant Dale, and sister Mary Sarnes of Lexington; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, their spouses, cousins, and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dale, Burt, and Roger, and sister Janice Templin.
