Duane Lee Kring
On June 28th, 2024, Duane was welcomed by his Savior into his new home.
Born as the youngest son on October 16, 1936, in Lexington, to Lloyd and Gladys Kring with siblings Kenneth, Elaine, and Jim who have all gone before him. Duane leaves behind him his beloved wife of 64 years, Stonelle; three children, Davis and his wife, Susan, Dede, and Darren and his wife, Chelsea; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and his wife, Alexandria, Andrew and his wife, Veronica; great-granddaughter, Delilah and Peter, Alexis and her husband, Ryan, and Colby and his wife, Brittani.
Duane attended and graduated from Lexington High School where he was a proud Minuteman. Duane excelled in basketball and football.
Duane worked for many years in downtown Dallas for Mobil pipeline before retiring and building his home in New Harmony where he and Stonelle lived for nearly 30 years. They were both active at New Harmony Baptist Church and loved the many friendships developed there. He took a job at Brookshires in Lindale bagging groceries where he could talk to make friends with the people he just hadn't met yet. No one left without being acknowledged, talked to and befriended or having heard the gospel while their groceries were loaded.
Duane was an avid gardener, small engine repairman, whistler, and all-around tinkerer. He most likely has the first nail he ever bent still in a rusting coffee can, because it can be straightened. He enjoyed the outdoors of the East Texas piney woods, watching birds and taking note of the simple things such as a breeze in the trees, always giving attribution to God's creative handiwork. He is missed but comfort is taken with the knowledge and confidence of a grand family reunion in the future.
