Beverly Darlene Stark, age 74, of Lexington, formerly of Bertrand and Loomis, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Visitation will be at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the family greeting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Following the visitation, the family is honoring Beverly's wish for cremation. Memorial services will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, on Monday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Connie Karr, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, at 3 p.m.The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of the arrangements.     

Survivors include, Darla (Edwin) Cohagan of Gothenburg, Daniel (Lisa) Stark of Plainview, Darrie (Rick) Streeter of Holdrege, Dawn Glinsmann of Kearney, Della (David) Ehlers of Smithfield and Dora (Walter) Tappan of Odessa; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Shepard of North Platte, and Wanda Howell of Cozad; four brothers, Glenn Horn of Lexington, Ronald (Jean) Horn of California, Gary (Kathy) Horn of Elwood, and Clifton (Karen) Horn of Lexington; sister-in-law, Shirley (Glenn) Stombaugh of Eustis; brothers-in-law, John (Doris) Stark of Holdrege and Jerry (Betty) Stark of Hays, Kan.; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Shield of Kearney.     

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Tyler Ehlers; son-in-law, Bob Glinsmann; one sister, Phyllis Shepard and her husband, Eldred; one brother, Dwight Horn; brothers-in-law, Ronald Howell and Ike Shepard and sister-in-law, Betty Horn.     

Beverly was born Feb. 11, 1933, west of Oconto in Custer County, the fourth of nine children of Gerald and Velma (Garringer) Horn. She received her primary education in Custer County and then attended Lexington High School, graduating with the class of 1951. She then pursued higher education at Kearney State College. Beverly then taught school in Custer, Dawson and Phelps Counties for three years.     

On Nov. 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Darrel "Dee" Stark and to this union six children were born, Darla, Daniel, Darrie, Dawn, Della and Dora. The family made their home north of Loomis, where Dee fed cattle and farmed until 1976. Beverly drove school bus for the Loomis Public School for many years. Beverly and Dee treasured the bonds formed through the years caring for several foster children. On Feb. 6, 2006, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dee.     

Beverly was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, was a 4-H leader when the children were young, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the Bertrand Nursing Home. She enjoyed embroidering, jigsaw puzzles and word find puzzles. Beverly's attended her grandchildren's activities and enjoyed family get-togethers.
