Robert Brown, age 91, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Great Plains Health on October 13, 2022.

Robert, the son of Fulton and Frieda Brown, was born in Lexington on August 18, 1931. After graduating from Lexington High School in 1949 he served in the Army Reserves from 1950-59.

On November 11, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Beauchamp at the Methodist Church in Lexington where they made their home. The couple had five children and were married for nearly 71 years.

In 1974 the family moved to North Platte. Robert worked at Mid-Plains Community College as an automotive mechanic instructor for 21 years until retiring in 1995.

Robert loved gardening and his yard. Being a former high school athlete, he liked all sports but Husker football and the Minnesota Vikings were his favorite teams. Over the years Robert went by many names such as Bob, Brownie and Uncle Bob, but Dad and Grandpa were his favorites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fulton and Frieda; brothers, Lloyd, Lawrance, Kenneth and Wayne Brown; sisters, Elnora Ryckman and Margaret Garcia; and his son, James.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; sons, Phillip (Polly) Brown of Phoenix, AZ, and Robert (Pam) Brown of North Platte; daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Ryan of Loup City and Nancy Zimmerman of Kearney; his sister, Evelyn Stelk of Grand Island; grandchildren, Matthew, Dennis, Chad, Colby, Austin, Jacob, Michele, Kelly and Jessica; as well as 15 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and other family.

Celebration of Life and inurnment will be at a later date. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the donor's choice.
