William "Bill" Thomas Karr, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska, where he had been a resident for just a few days.
He was born August 22, 1928, in Miller, Nebraska, to Guy Winfred and Mary Veronica (Curran) Karr. He attended his early elementary years in Overton, Nebraska until his family moved to Lexington where he attended public school until graduating in 1948. As a young adult he worked for his father in the hay business. On November 27, 1955, he married Kay Ruth Yeiter in Cozad, Nebraska. They moved to a farm south of Cozad where Bill farmed for 45 years. Bill was married to Kay for 32 years, until her death in 1987. He then married Lois Lorraine Michel in January of 1989. He retired from farming in 1999, and moved to Lexington.
Bill was active in 4-H and Sparerib Clubs. He held many offices in the Presbyterian Church through the years. He started Darr Packing in earlier years. He loved farm life, tending to the hogs and cattle. He was a caring and loving person all of his life. The family will really miss such a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. "Farewell "Will".
Survivors include his wife: Lois Karr of Lexington, Nebraska. Sons: Mike & Leann Karr of Laguna Hills, California, Scott & Terry Tomasek of Omaha, Nebraska. Daughters: Nancy & John Abel of Montrose, Colorado, Kelly & Steve Schneider of Grand Island, Nebraska. Seven grandchildren: Kelsey, Jana and Matt Karr of California; Katie & Holly Abel of Montrose, California; Tucker Tomasek of Monroe, Washington; Trista Tomasek of Kansas City, Missouri. One great-grandson: Seth Karr of California. One sister: Vivian Grange of Hood River, Oregon. A Nephew: Jack Lhotak of Lexington, Nebraska. Bill was preceded in death, in addition to his first wife, by his parents and six sisters.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverends Caroline Vickery and Ron Roemmich officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Donor's Choice.
