Marcia M. Morgan, 92, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, November 17, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.

Marcia was born June 8, 1925, in rural Lexington to Edward and Hattie (Marsh) Knapple. She was a 1942 graduate of Lexington High School. Marcia went on to further her education at Bishop Clarkson Nursing School in Omaha. She graduated with her Registered Nurse Degree in 1946.

She was united in marriage to Merle Morgan on April 27, 1947, in Lexington. Marcia would begin her career in nursing at the Lexington Community Hospital. She would go on to work at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Administrator for Platte Valley Care Home in Lexington, Westside Care Home in Lexington, was interim Administrator at Bertrand Nursing Home, and finished her nursing career with Central Plains Home Health in Cozad.

As a young girl, she was a member of Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church, and after her marriage she joined the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. She served on the Commission of Ministry of the Presbytery for six years. She was also an active member of Chapter HV P.E.O., DAR, and the Rebekah’s.

Marcia enjoyed playing Bridge, bowling, walking, knitting, and caring for others, but her grandchildren always brought a sparkle to her eye.

Leaving to mourn her loss are her children; Cynthia A. (Jim) Elwell of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sarah A. (Jon) Taylor of Lexington, Nebraska, William J. Morgan of Granger, Iowa, and Mary A. Reed of Lexington, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Shelly, Meagan, Erin, Beth, Adam, Lacie, and Darla; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barb Knapple of Lexington, Nebraska; as well as one niece, one nephew, extended family and friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle; daughter, Susan Maurstad; sister, Arlene Giesler; brother, Neil Knapple; and son-in-law, Bob Reed.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating.

Private Burial will be held prior to the service at Greenwood Cemetery There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church.
