OBITUARY

A funeral Mass for Roland James Kjar, 43, of Paola, Kansas will be conducted today, Saturday, October 26, 1996, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola with Rev. Joe Cramer officiating. Interment will be in the Paola Cemetery.

Roland died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 23, 1996 at his home at rural Paola.

He was born August 25, 1953, at Lexington, to Carl and Lea (Gillen) Kjar. He attended school in Lexington and graduated from St. Ann's High School with the Class of 1972. He later attended a mechanic technical school.

He was married September 7,1973, at Overland Park, Kansas, to Debbie Sloan. They made their home at Gardner, Kansas, before moving to the Hillsdale area 16 years ago.

Roland had been a mechanic for the Miami County Highway Department for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and loved to farm and work on machinery.

Survivors include his wife Debbie (Sloan) Kjar; three sons, Brian Kjar, stationed with the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Chris Kjar and Andy Kjar both of Paola; his parents, Carl and Lea Kjar of Lexington, two brothers, Dean Kjar of Wood River, and Carl Kjar; three sisters, Jan Jacquot and Sherry Wood of Colorado and Kathy Hoffeber of Lexington; his three year oldgrandson, Kyle Kjar; and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Kjar.
