Guadalupe “Lupe” Ceballos, 70, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born June 5, 1948 in Lexington, Nebraska to Sisto and Guadalupe Rangel. Lupe grew up in Lexington where he graduated from St. Ann’s High School with the class of 1966. He was raised by J. Guadalupe B. Ceballos and Maria Refugia Quinones.

Following high school, Lupe went to work for Monroe’s in Cozad where he worked his way up to become General Foreman. He put in twenty eight years before taking a job at Dairy Queen which he enjoyed for the next fourteen years and then retired.

Lupe was united in marriage to Julie Stevens on August 2, 1974 in Lexington, Nebraska. Two daughters were blessed to this union: Julie and Sandra. Lupe and Julie raised their family in Lexington where Lupe lived his entire life.

Lupe loved shopping and his family called him a “shopaholic”. Lupe and Julie enjoyed going to garage sales and going on long drives. He enjoyed following storms, watching movies and decorating for every holiday. Lupe loved being with his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Julie of Lexington, Nebraska; step-mother, Ruby Rangel of Lexington, daughters, Julie Ceballos (Randy) of Lexington, Nebraska and Sandy (Jamie) Vollmer of Overton, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Brittney, Jordanna, Tyson, Trevor, Josh and Lucas; four great-grandchildren, Brielle, Paisley, A.J. and Maddix; brothers, Winky Rangel of Seward, Nebraska, Diamon Rangel of Lincoln, Nebraska and Simon (Deb) Rangel of Cozad, Nebraska; sisters, Virginia (Mike) Newman of Grand Island, Nebraska, Benigna (Jim) Lucas of Cozad, Nebraska, Chita Rangel of Cozad, Nebraska, Mary (Terry) Dishman of Cozad, Nebraska, Sally (Steve) Curtice of Cozad, Nebraska and Sarah (Jose) of Denver, Colorado, sisters-in-law: Diane Rangel of Grand Island, Sharon Rangel of Illinois; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sisto, Johnny and Pancho; two sisters, Alice and Patricia Rangel.

Mass Of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski, as Celebrant.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.

Burial will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery.
