Ann Elizabeth (Crawford) Alexander, 25, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
She was born December 19, 1982, at North Platte, Nebraska, to Terry Lee and Sheri Elaine (Zimmerman) Crawford.
Ann attended elementary school at Morton Elementary, junior high at Lexington Middle School and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2001. While in high school, Ann was active in many activities; she was active in track, basketball, student council, L-Club, FBLA, SADD (Students against Destructive Decisions), Octagon Club, National Honor Society, Pep Club and was a Homecoming Queen candidate. Besides being active in school, Ann was also very involved in Horse 4-H. She was a member of Boots-n-Spurs 4-H club and was on the horse judging team that made it to Nationals. Ann's determination and the way she overcame obstacles in her life due to Cystic Fibrosis earned her the DJ Hero Award given by the Salvation Army.
She then went on to further her education at Wesleyan University in Lincoln where she was also active in her college life as well as the Lincoln community. Ann was a member of Delta Zeta sorority where she held an office. She was involved with TeamMates in Lincoln, she ran track for Wesleyan as a freshman and was awarded the Outstanding Business Student Award. She was also a student Ambassador.
Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church growing up and converted to Catholicism when she was married. She was presently a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Ann married the love of her life, Thomas G. Alexander, on December 29, 2006, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. The couple made their home at Johnson Lake and Lincoln while Tom attended dental school.
Ann had many passions in life; but, riding and showing horses were right up there at the top as well as spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved going to check on the cattle with her dad, spending time outdoors and being with friends. She volunteered for the Lexington Community Foundation with the scholarship committee and participated in Relay for Life.
Lexington has truly lost a bright, shiny star with the death of "Our Annie". May her spirit light our way and show us that obstacles can always be overcome with determination and hard work. Sleep well sweet child.
