Roger James Biehl, 58, of rural Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, February 6, 2017, at his home.
Roger was born June 22, 1958, in Lexington, to James Wesley and Marilyn May (Brown) Biehl. He attended rural District #17, Lexington Junior High, and graduated in 1976 from Lexington High School. Throughout his teen years he could be found working at Biehl Cattle Company after school, on weekends, and every summer. He stayed on the farm following graduation from high school.
He was united in marriage to Becky Waller on November 4, 1978 in Lexington. One daughter was born to this union, Brandy. The marriage ended in divorce. He then married Tracy Damme on October 17th, 1992, welcoming Tracy’s daughter, Amanda into the family. The couple had a son and two more daughters together. The marriage ended in divorce; however, he and Tracy remained very close.
The First Presbyterian church was very important to Roger. He joined the choir when he was in high school. He spoke with pride that he was able to do so while his own grandfather, Wes was also a member. He also sang with his own children in the choir. It meant so much to him to be a part of that together. Roger was also very involved with the Logos Youth Group, chaperoning ski trips, and being a “table parent” on Wednesday nights. He served on the Session off and on for the majority of his adult life, as well as other various committees.
There weren’t very many people that didn’t know him. If you have, had or even visited almost any Lexington business, you had probably met Roger Biehl. He had a way of striking up a conversation and had many friends. He thought highly of the people he did business with and would always do his best to support his local businessmen and women.
Roger was an avid fan of LHS band and athletics, and other fine arts, regularly attending football and basketball games, as well as nearly every marching band performance. He attended every showing of the musical Oklahoma and Annie.
As a dad and papa, he found no greater joy than watching his children perform and seeing his grandchildren grow and change. His life revolved around his kids. He made sure that he regularly told each of them how proud he was and that he loved them. His willingness to express his love will be carried on by all five of his children. He was an amazing father, devoted son, brother, and uncle.
Roger was a 10 year member of the Horseshoe Bend 4-H Club as a youth. Being involved with showing market beef, and the speech and judging programs. As an adult he was involved with the Dawson County Cattlemen and served on the board for a time. He was past president of the rural school board at District #17 when his children were in school. He was also a past member of the area Barbershoppers.
Roger is survived by his children; Brandy (Cody) Popken of Lexington, Nebraska, Amanda Christensen of Lexington, Nebraska, Aleah Biehl and Isaac Biehl of Lexington, Nebraska, and Rachel Biehl of Norfolk, Nebraska; three grandchildren; Kamryn Pike, Giana Christensen, and Kinley Popken all of Lexington. Also surviving are his parents, Jim and Marilyn Biehl of Lexington; sister, Janice (Lynn) Lans of Lexington; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents, and one nephew, Jason.
Funeral Services will be Friday, February 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, or the Donor’s choice.

SHREVEPORT, LA – A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Melody Annette Brown Prothro, 58, will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Rev. Larry Tucker officiating.
Melody was born in Aurora, Nebraska July 1, 1958 to Richard and Phyllis Brown and passed away March 2, 2017. Melody was most happy when spending time with her beloved family. They often traveled and couldn’t keep her away from Disney World. She was known for her creative crafts and often found every excuse to make something new. Melody made every Christmas the best Christmas there ever was. As her favorite holiday she kept the Christmas spirit alive year-round. Her selflessness started young when she entered the United States Navy. She put everyone before herself, making sure her family’s dreams came true no matter the delay in her own. Melody was hard to know and easy to love. She kept her life quiet, but welcomed anyone with open arms. Melody will be missed by all who knew her; her brightness in this world will now shine down upon all her loved ones.
Melody is survived by her mother, Phyllis Hendrix; her loving and devoted husband, Billy Ray Prothro; two loving daughters, Trista Guendulay and husband, Mario, and Tarah Lockard and wife, Jennifer Lockard; her beautiful grandchildren, Pierce and Hallise Guendulay; her brothers, Tony Brown and Andy Brown; sister, Reni Rodriguez; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Pastor Marvin "Joe" Masten, Jr. 52, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, at his home near Lexington. He was born December 26, 1957, at Wakefield, Nebraska, to Marvin "Joe" and Ella M. (Miller) Masten. He lived in Walthill, Wayne, Cedar Rapids, Rosalie, Wood Lake, Orchard, Winside, Lexington, Albion, Hastings and Thedford, all in Nebraska.
Joe graduated from Lexington High School in 1976. He married Tammy Plessel of Milford on May 29, 1982. One child blessed this marriage; Ashley Sue.
He has been the Pastor of the Lexington Calvary Assembly of God Church for the past twelve years. He loved his church, family and had a passion for missions. He made multiple trips around the world; building, preaching seminars, and helping local pastors and missionaries. His latest projects are in Madagascar. He served on the board of People Matter Ministries International. PMMI (a Foundation) focuses on a holistic approach to evangelism in third world countries including orphanages, schools, medical supplies and water wells.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Bob Wine officiating.
Interment will be held prior to the Memorial Service at Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.

Ronald Ray Hill, age 50, of North Platte, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2008 at his home after an illness with brain cancer. Memorial services will be Monday, March 10, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday until service time.
Survivors include his wife, Penny of North Platte; his mother, Mae (Larry) Keen of Kearney; a daughter, Misty (James) Strobel of North Platte; two grandsons, Justin and Dylon; four brothers, Robert (Debi) Hill of Talequah, Okla., Kenny (Diane) Hill, Larry (Jody) Hill of North Platte and Rick Hill of Lexington; nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and a brother, Randy.
He was born July 14, 1957 to Raymond and Mae (Shewey) Hill in Norton, Kans. He grew up in the Norton and Lexington areas.
On March 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Penny Deselms in Norton. Ronald did construction for various people and they moved to North Platte in 1993. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and was an avid NASCAR fan.
A memorials has been established in his name.

Nebraskan drowns in canal
Lexington (UPI) - The U.S. Army notified Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wenburg, Lexington of the death of their son, Pvt. 1st Class Dale A. Wenburg, 19.
Authorities said Wenburg, who was stationed in the Panama Canal zone, was swept off a coral reef and drowned June 19.
Wenburg's parents were notified Wednesday that their son's body had been recovered.
Wenburg was attempting to rescue a person injured in a landslide while climbing a cliff near the coral reef when he was swept away, authorities said.

UPDATE: April 2007 Dale's name will be added to a memorial wall in Washington, D.C. with a Candlelight Vigil on May 13, 2007 and a Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 15, 2007.
