Maiden Name: Kearney

Margaret “Maggie” Kearney, 54, of Overton, Nebraska, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born October 20, 1953, at Lexington, Nebraska, to John “Jack” and Marjorie Ann (Naprstek) Kearney.

Maggie attended country school at District #6, St. Ann’s Catholic School and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1971. While in school she was active in 4-H. Following graduation, she worked at Dixie’s Discount, Weichel Drive-in and then spent several years at Precision Bearing.

She was united in marriage to Larry Thornburg on April 7, 1973, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple lovingly adopted two children; Abby and Austin. Maggie ran the Blue Lounge for 14 years, later purchasing the tavern and calling is Maggie’s Blue Lounge. She did this until 1997, when she went to work for Tep’s Bar & Grill and the Box Bar. She also worked part-time for the Overton Post Office and the Overton Golf Course.

Maggie loved people. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in many state tournaments.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Club.

Lexington has lost a great friend in Maggie; “God speed our friend, we’ll see you later girlie”.

Austin & Joni Thornburg of Lincoln, Nebraska

One granddaughter: MaKayla Thornburg, of Lincoln, Nebraska

Her mother: Marjorie “Marge” Kearney of Overton, Nebraska

Two brothers: John Kearney of Overton, Nebraska
Dave & Paula Kearney of Overton, Nebraska

Two sisters: Ann & Ron Balthazor of Lexington, Nebraska
Mary & Mike Simmerman of Murray, Nebraska

Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.

Maggie was preceded in death by her grandparents; dad, Jack; Niece, Kylie Kearney; and two nephews, Adam Patrick Larson and Alex Simmerman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverends Paul Colling and Jose Chavez, con-celebrating.

Burial will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.

Book Signing and Visiting with the Family will be Monday, May 19, 2008, from 2-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love in Lexington.

Wake Service will be Monday, May 19, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.

At the Family’s Request, in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Family for later designation.
