Susan Arlene Maurstad, 62, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, following a sudden cardiac arrest at her home in Loveland.

She was born October 9, 1953, to William and Arlene (Knapple) Giesler in Lexington, Nebraska.

Having lost their mother at birth Susie, and twin, Sarah, spent their early childhood in the loving care of grandparents, Ed and Hattie Knapple, then with their father and loving stepmom, Carole. At Age 8, the girls made their permanent home with Marcia and Merle Morgan in Lexington. Sue graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1971, Bryan School of Nursing in 1976, Physician’s Assistant/Nurse Practioner Program at University of North Dakota in 1983, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bellevue University.

Susan married Eric Maurstad on December 27, 1975, Erin, was born in 1979. Sue spent several years working as a registered nurse and PA in Nebraska and North Dakota. In 1990, Sue and Erin made their home in Lexington when she began her career as a pharmaceutical sales representative. She retired to Loveland, Colorado in 2008, to be near Erin and husband Justin.

She loved cooking, golfing, DIY projects, socializing, volunteering for her church and other worthy causes, and finding a great bargain! Her strong Faith, and kind generous spirit shown in her willingness to help those in need, including her pet kitties.

Susan is survived by her daughter Erin, son-in-law Justin, and adored grandchildren Jack and Elise Moomey; mother Marcia Morgan; twin Sarah (Jon) Taylor; special niece Beth (Cy) Bailey; sisters Mary Reed and Cindy (Jim) Elwell; brother Bill Morgan; nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members, the Christs, Maurstads, and Gieslers, and many friends whom she loved with all her heart.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Arlene Giesler, and Merle Morgan; Maury and Dorothy Maurstad; grandparents, Ed and Hattie Knapple, and Edith Giesler; and beloved brother-in-law Bob Reed.

Susan’s family has honored her wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

The family is in charge of arrangements.
