Jenny L. Cronkhite, 64, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
Jenny was born July 8, 1951, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Glenn Eugene and Betty Marie (Reddick) Horn. She attended grade school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1969. She then went onto further her education at Grand Island School of Business, graduating with an Accounting Degree.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Cronkhite on June 25, 1973, in Lexington. Two girls were blessed to this marriage; Heather and Joy. The marriage would later end in divorce.
Jenny’s love for kids was so apparent as she had her own Daycare for many years. She then went to work for Lexington Public Schools in the Janitorial Department, first working at the Lexington Junior High and then the high school.
In 2004, her health forced her to retire. She had many interests in her life, but none more important than her family. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, dancing, and cats. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a sparkle in her eye, and a love for life.
Survivors include her daughters; Heather (Ryan) Devine of Lexington, Nebraska, Joy Duda of Cape Coral, Florida; granddaughter, McKenzie Hill of Lexington, Nebraska; her father, Glenn Horn of Lexington, Nebraska; two brothers, Grant Horn of Lexington, Nebraska, and Jerry (Elaine) Horn of Shubert, Nebraska; one sister, Suzann (David) Burnett of Danvers, Massachusetts; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jenny was preceded in death by her mother, Betty; and little brother, Gale.
It was Jenny’s desire that her body be cremated. The family has carried out those wishes. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with Pastor Matt Doubet and Pastor Duane Russell co- officiating. Memorials are suggested to Club 180 in Lexington.

Connie Sue Jewett, 64, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at her home near Lexington.
Connie was born September 16, 1951, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Milo Milton and Aeota M. (Dillman) Koehn. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1969. Connie was united in marriage to David Jewett on July 14, 1969, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Three children were blessed to this marriage; David, Jr., Tammy, and Mindy. Connie was a stay-at-home mom when her kids were small, but helped David with the farming operation. She also baked cakes for birthdays, weddings, and any celebration she was asked to bake for. She loved baking, gardening, flowers, her furry four-legged pets, racing, playing cards, and being with the grandkids.
She worked at the Dawson County Raceway for many years. She was the friendly face when you pulled into the gates, and held many jobs wherever she was needed.
She belonged to a Birthday Club, and loved visiting with her customers in the bakery at Walmart.
Connie received her 50 year membership pin from the First Presbyterian Church. She had such a kind heart, a loving smile, and enjoyed a good laugh, a good joke, and was always there when needed. She will be so very missed.
Connie is survived by her husband/life-long partner; David Jewett of Lexington, Nebraska; her mother, Aeota “Doll” Nielsen of Lexington, Nebraska; son, David, Jr. (Machelle) Jewett of Scurry, Texas; two daughters, Tammy Headley (Tracy Harr) of Ashland, Nebraska, and Mindy (Bill) Unterseher of Norton, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Jewett of Fort Collins, Colorado, Brooke Jewett of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Kami, Thane, and Alexa Marshall of Scurry, Texas, Kobie, Kade, and Camdyn Unterseher of Norton, Kansas, Phoebe & Isaac Headley, and Tyler Harr of Ashland, Nebraska; one brother, Frank (Vickey) Koehn of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; two sisters, Kandy (Richard) Anderson of Alva, Oklahoma, and, Susan (Joe) Kreski of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Sandy Koehn of Pueblo, Colorado; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Milo; three brothers, John, and infant twin brothers, Bobby & Billy; and, stepfather, Paul Nielsen.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Polly Deppe-Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Dawson County Relay for Life.

Jean Arlene Bowling, 64 of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Doniphan, Nebraska, passed away suddenly in Mercedes, Texas, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Jean was born May 4, 1951, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Fred M. and Geraldine (Eby) Vollmer.
She attended school in Lexington and graduated with the Class of 1969. On October 11, 1980, she was united in marriage to Jim Bowling at the Fairhaven Baptist Church in rural Lexington. The couple lived in Lexington until 1985, when they moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. Jean had worked at B&D, Plectron, New Holland, Shopko and Wal-Mart. The couple also resided in Pennsylvania for two years.
After retirement, the couple moved to Kearney, Nebraska and spent their winters in Mercedes, Texas, where they have made numerous friends. Jean enjoyed shopping, keeping a clean house, reading, exercising, golfing, and planting and caring for her flowers. In the couple’s early years they enjoyed remodeling many of their homes. Jean loved country music and they attended many concerts. The couple also enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Jean was a little lady with a huge heart. Family and friends meant everything to her.
Survivors include: Her husband: Jim Bowling of Kearney, Nebraska One son: Dean Bowling of Port Washington, Wisconsin One Daughter: Angie Bowling of Arvada, Colorado Her mother: Geri Vollmer of Lexington, Nebraska Two sisters: Janet and husband Ray Bitner of Overton, Nebraska, and Janice and husband Pat Kelley of Gretna, Nebraska; brother and sister in law, Lew and Vivian Bowling of Lexington, Kentucky. Five Grandchildren: Josh, Jake, Elizabeth, Andrew and Thomas. One great grandson: Cole Jean is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, Fred; and mother & father in-law, Rev L. Paul and Kathryn Bowling.
Jean’s body will be cremated in Texas and a memorial service and inurnment to be held at a later date in Lexington, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Richard "Rick" Allen Strohmyer, age 58, of Miles City, Mont., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 starting at 1:00 pm with the family to receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Valley Baptist Church in Miles City.
Rick is survived by his fiancé, Cheryl Tonn, of Miles City, son Carl (Michelle) Strohmyer of San Francisco, Calif., daughter Heidi Strohmyer of Missoula, Mont.; Cheryl's children, Mike (Rhianna) Tonn of Billings, Mont., Will Tonn of Bozeman, Mont., and Anne (Mike) Quast of Buffalo, Wyo.; brothers Harry (Gaunitta) Strohmyer of Los Alamedas, Calif., Randy (Kris) Strohmyer of Gothenburg, Jeff (Lisa) Strohmyer of Papillion and a sister, Mary Strohmyer, of Lyons. He is also survived by his first grandson, Michael Vincent Strohmyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
Rick was born on April 8, 1951, in Lexington, the son of Carl William and Lillian "Dilly" (Ourada) Strohmyer. Rick graduated in 1969 from Lexington High School.
Rick was a gentle kind man - always wearing a smile. His passion was his music. He was a self-taught left-handed musician accused by many of playing the guitar, banjo and fiddle upside down and backwards. He was the object of many banjo jokes and especially delighted in telling the latest new one he'd heard.
He was a history enthusiast and musicologist. During the Lewis and Clark celebration, he educated and entertained audiences statewide with his historical presentations of period music on his fiddle as well as the fretless banjo and tiny mandolin that he lovingly handcrafted. Rick was a member of a Celtic band, Prairie Kailies, and a bluegrass band, Milestown.
Rick loved the outdoors. He loved hunting especially for pheasants, fly fishing, cooking, gardening and an occasional "good cigar" and glass of single malt scotch on the patio.
He was proud of a seven-year career of jumping out of perfectly good planes. Smoke jumping for many years left him with forever-loyal jumper friends, endless jumper jokes, and fascinating firefighting tales.
His rich voice and music will be missed by his fellow musicians and listeners at the Miles City Open Mic where he was known as the "song boss". He looked forward to Friday evenings and a good jam session.
He had a 20-year career with the State of Montana as a forester and for the last six years as the Eastern Montana Regional Area Manager for the Department of Natural Resources.
The most recent joys in his life were the birth of a grandson and his engagement to Cheryl Tonn.

Michael Loyd Van Cleave, 58, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. He was born December 27, 1950, at Lexington, Nebraska to Loyd K. and Caryl Maureen (West) Van Cleave.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Lexington High School. He worked for the Dawson County Road Department for many years and prior to that was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years. He was a member of Lakeside Country Club for many years and so enjoyed a good round of golf with his many golfing buddies.
Mike was a kind, gentle man who loved to be with his friends and would give you the shirt off his back.
It was Mike's wishes that his body be cremated and his friends have honored those wishes.
Mike is survived by one sister: Vicky Van Cleave of Omaha, Nebraska, His stepmother: Clara Van Cleave of Omaha, Nebraska, He was also survived by many, many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, especially his beloved grandma Christine.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery and Pastor Dan Cosson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department. Jayson Thomas Maloley, 60, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was born May 8, 1951, at Lexington, Nebraska to Faud N. and Wanda A. (Maalouli) Maloley. Jayson attended District #17 country school and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1969. He then attended Kearney State College.
Jayson was united in marriage to Elaine El-Rayess at the St. John's Orthodox Church in Beirut, Lebanon on March 1, 1981. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Samia, Eli and Tanya.
Jayson farmed for a time and worked at Electric Fixture & Supply for many years. At the time of Jayson's death he was working as a welder at Baldwin's in Gothenburg and also at Stoney's in Lexington.
He enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading Western novels, helping his customers at Electric Fixture & Supply, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, fly-fishing and spending time with his family. He grew up attending the St. George Orthodox Church in Kearney, Nebraska.
Survivors include his parents of Lexington, Nebraska. One son: Eli and wife Leah Maloley of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Two daughters: Samia and husband James Maul of Fresno, California, Tanya Maloley of Kearney, Nebraska, One brother: Jim Maloley of Lexington, Nebraska. Two sisters: Josephine (Greg) Awtry of York, Nebraska, Janet (Dave) Bendler of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, Three grandchildren: Jehu, Judah & Zoe Maloley. Jayson was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins

Douglas Scott Torrance, 62, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington, following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born January 14, 1951, at Eglin AFB, Florida, to Jack and LaDonna (Frank) Torrance. Doug moved to Lexington as a boy where he attended grade school, junior high and high school, graduating with the class of 1969. In 1973, he moved to Montana and returned to his hometown of Lexington in 2001. He was a kind man who thought the world of his family and was a generous friend who will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include two brothers; Bill (Donna) Torrance of Naples, Florida; and, Larry Doughty of Lexington, Nebraska; one sister, Cindy (Lonnie Dee) Highland of Loveland, Colorado; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John.It was Doug's wishes that his body be cremated. The family has honored those wishes. A Private Family Celebration will be held at a later date.
