Maiden Name: Zimmerman

Sheri Elaine Crawford, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Kearney Regional Medical Center after a difficult battle with cancer.

She was born April 6, 1947 in Lexington, Nebraska to Louis and Hope (Neal) Zimmerman. Sheri grew up in Lexington where she graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1965.  She then went on to further her education at Lincoln School Of Commerce where she attained her Associates Degree.

Sheri was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Terry Crawford on August 28, 1966 in Lexington, Nebraska. They made their home in Lincoln while Terry was finishing up school and moved back to Lexington in 1970.  Three daughters were blessed to this union: Keri, Kelli and Ann.

In the early 70’s, Sheri was the secretary at the David Harum Mill. She then took over the bookkeeping at the Crawford Farming Operation until 1999.  She also wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and helped out on the farm wherever she was needed.  In 2003, Sheri began working as a Para-Educator for the Lexington Middle School which she thoroughly enjoyed until retiring in 2017.

Family was everything to Sheri. She loved spending time watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and many activities. The many, many horse shows probably topped her list of favorite activities, although watching her youngest daughter, Ann, run was a favorite for many years. Christmas was always an amazing time for the family because Sheri was the ultimate gift-giver and enjoyed giving much more than receiving. She was a voracious reader of literature with an incredible vocabulary and a talented piano player, though only a few were fortunate to get to enjoy listening to her play.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Crawford of Lexington, Nebraska; daughters, Keri (Scott) West of Lexington, Nebraska and Kelli (Corey) Bender of Lexington, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Giovanny) Rodriguez of Oak Grove, Kentucky, Mackenzie West, Kaden West, Braden Bender and Candice Bender all of Lexington, Nebraska; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Ann and brother, Dennis Zimmerman.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor John Shields, officiating.
