Evelyn J. Zabloudil, 77, of Kearney, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Hannappel and Fr. Tom Mulowney officiating.
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Monday morning.
Evelyn was born on March 31, 1937 in Ericson, to Joseph and Emma (Lehecka) Zabloudil. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. She then worked at the dental office of Anderson/Batie in Lexington and later as a housekeeper for Father Tom Mulowney and also the St. James Parish in Kearney. She went to work as a Unit Secretary at Good Samaritan Hospital in June of 1980, a position she held until her retirement in 2010. Evelyn was a dedicated member of St. James Catholic church. She enjoyed Nebraska football and volleyball and also attending the Rotary Travelogue. Family was an important part of Evelyn’s life as were her numerous close friends.
Surviving relatives include her niece, Patty (Randy) Blundel of Austin, Texas; nephews, Matt Zabloudil of Lawrence, Kan., and Steven Zabloudil of Memphis, Tenn.; godson, Zach Cunningham; Many dear friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen Zabloudil.

Ronney Lee Naumann, 81 years of age, of Lexington, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at the Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. Interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, following the services.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.
He was born March 24, 1936 at the family home in Eustis, the third of four children born to Leonard and Esther (Pfeiffer) Naumann. The family lived in Eustis until 1945 until moving to Lexington. Ron received his primary education from Trinity Lutheran Parochial School in Lexington through the eighth grade, and then graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954.
Following his education, Ron served his country in the United States Naval Reserves for four years, prior to his honorable discharge. He was then employed in Chicago, Ill., where he met Carol Jean Olszewski. On Nov. 2, 1963, they were united in marriage at Chicago, and to this union two daughters were born, Michelle and Lea. The family made their home in Lexington, where Ron was dedicated and passionate about his long career in carpentry. On Dec. 8, 1980 he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol.
On July 6, 1985, he was united in marriage to Sondra K. Orcutt in Lexington. Ron welcomed Sondra’s daughters, Amanda and Ashley into his life, and they blended two families into one. Ron continued to be involved in construction, and was proud of many projects throughout the community. On April 6, 2014 he was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the Trustee Committee in years past. Ron enjoyed hunting, and had a special way with dogs, especially his hunting dogs throughout the years. His keen sense of humor will always be remembered by his family and friends. His family, especially the grandchildren, always put a smile on his face and hugs were given abundantly by Grandpa.
Ron leaves to celebrate his life, his four daughters, Michelle (Corey) Matis of Omaha, Lea (Matt) Neil of Cozad, Amanda (Kent) Bauer of Lincoln and Ashley (Justin) Childears of North Platte; nine grandchildren, Taylor and Lauren Matis, Lindsey (Caleb) McKeever; Ty Rogers, Nate Neil, Blake and Morgan Bauer and Celie and Ceiden Childears; one great-granddaughter, Leighton McKeever; two sisters: Ladena (Fred) Seger of Maine and Joyce (Dave) Wolfe of Overton; brother-in-law, Ron (Bonnie) Owen of Maui, Hawaii; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides his parents and his two wives, Carol and Sondra, Ron was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cainey Childears; and one sister, Leola German and her husband, Lee.
A memorial has been established in Ron’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Jean M. Benjamin, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, on her birthday, at Cozad Community Health System.
She was born May 22, 1936, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Arthur and Marie (Buchholz) Westmeyer. She was a lifetime resident of Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. She then went on to further her education at Hastings College, graduating in 1958.
She taught school for two years in North Platte, Nebraska.
Jean was married to Wilber “Bill” Benjamin on June 28, 1959, in Lexington. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Rick and Tammy.
Following her teaching, Jean was a stay-at-home mother, and also helped Bill with their farming operation, she also worked at Lee’s Flowers.
In 1995, she went to work in Medical Records at Tri-County Hospital until her retirement.
She loved crafting, for a time she and some friends owned “Bit of Country” crafts. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and crocheting. Her family was her life, and she absolutely loved spending time with the grandchildren. Jean was a 4-H leader when the kids were young, she was also a member of the Grant Extension Club.
Survivors include her husband; Bill of Lexington, Nebraska; son; Rick (Cindy) Benjamin of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter, Tammy (Randy) Coons of Callaway, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Jessica, Cassy, and Brandi Coons of Callaway, Nebraska, and Darcy and Braydon Benjamin of Lexington, Nebraska; one great-granddaughter, Laela Rae of Lexington, Nebraska.
Preceding Jean in death were her parents; and, one grandson, Chase Benjamin.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Josh Stibb officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Zickie Z. Maloley 70, of Lexington, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Wel-Life at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Zickie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Andy and Toffie and one sister, Esther.
He was born June 9, 1936, at Lexington, Nebraska, to George N. and Mary (Malooley) Maloley.
Zickie grew up east of Lexington on the Maloley Farm, attended rural school and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. Upon graduation, he began farming with his seven brothers, four cousins, dad and uncle, raising 50 to 60 acres of watermelons, cantaloupes, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. They sold produce from Denver to Omaha.
In 1965, they bought the old Red Star Motel on highway 30 west of Lexington, by Deeter's Welding Shop. They turned the office building into a produce and grocery store. They then bought a lot north of the courthouse and built a l5,000 sq. foot grocery store. They also bought the old ice plant where Al's Meat Market was and used this to wholesale their own meat and produce. In 1979, they sold Maloley's IGA and Mr. Z's meats. In 1984, he went to work selling insurance and real estate for Barrett, Housel and Grafton Agency.
Zickie joined the Nebraska National Guard in 1954 and spent eight years until being discharged in 1962. On Jan. 18, 1959, Zickie was married to Bonnie Jean Collicott at Lexington. Four children were blessed to this union, Michele, Michael, Monte and Melinda.

Leland K. Zwick, 70, of Albert Lea, Minn., died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in Osceola, Wis. Services were held Monday, July 30, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, Minn. The Rev. Dan Baker officiated. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea, Minn. Military honors were conducted. Bonnerup Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Edith Wobig, and her husband Earle and brother-in-law, Floyd Woolson.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1936, in Gresham, to Richard C. and Louise (Abrahams) Zwick. Leland attended school in Buffalo, and then graduated in 1954 from Lexington High School. He worked at Jack and Jill store in Lexington during high school and after until he joined the Air Force. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force from June of 1957 until his honorable discharge in December of 1960. When he returned from the service, he began working for Nash Finch, and then in the 60s he became manager of Cut Low Grocery in Albert Lea, Minn. It was here that he met Sandra Hanson, whom he married on April 11, 1970. He then worked at Barmore Drug in Lexington, and later at Drug Supply Co., L.S. Sorem and Key Sales, in Albert Lea, Minn., retiring from full-time work in 1998. In his retirement, he began working at the rest stop in Interstate 35 near the Iowa border. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and American Legion.

Mary Jane Pesha, 70, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at her home in Lexington.
She was born March 28, 1937, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Ralph Dwight and Matilda Clementine (Welter) Fagot. Jane grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation, Jane went to work at the ASCS office in Lexington until she was united in marriage to Jerry Pesha. The couple were married February 23, 1963, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. They were blessed with four girls; Pam, Kim, Vickie and Teri.
Jane stayed home and raised the girls until Teri was in kindergarten and then went to work for Nebraska Natural Gas. She worked there until retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Altar Circle. She enjoyed her involvement in the church and helped fold bulletins for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary as well as the Lexington Jaycees. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jumble puzzles, traveling, playing cards, and Yahtzee. She really loved having coffee with her friends and spending time with her daughters and their families.
Survivors include four daughters: Pam (Rod) Schmidt of Wichita, Kansas, Kim (Andy) Doering of Lyons, Colorado, Vickie Stadler of Holdrege, Nebraska, Teri (Scott) Wayman of Lincoln, Nebraska. One brother: Leo Fagot of Lexington, Nebraska. Two sisters: Clementine King of Lexington, Nebraska Veronica (Ted) Scholl of Kearney, Nebraska. Nine grandchildren: Jordynn & Jerrod Schmidt; Maddie & Piper Doering; Nicholas & Mikayla Stadler and Tyler, Avery & Jake Wayman. Two sisters-in-law: Beth Clemans of Grand Island, Nebraska Charlene Nott of Arapahoe, Nebraska. One brother-in-law: Tom Pesha of Grand Island, Nebraska.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; two brothers, Ralph and Dwight and two sisters, Virginia and Bernadette.

Beverley A. Rickerson, 72, of Kearney, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney on Saturday, April 11, 2009. There will be no services. Her body will be cremated.
Survivors include her mother, Opal Brucker of Lexington; daughter Vickie Cochran of Lexington; sons, Loren Dean Franks and Bradley Franks of Kearney; daughter Nancy (Mike) Gowlovech of Bel Aire, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Dee Neal of Thedford and four grandchildren.
She was born April 24, 1936 to Charles & Opal (Novotny) Brucker in Marysville, Kan. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1954 and was also a graduate of LPN School. She married Harry Franks in 1955. They were later divorced. She worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Memorial Services for Roger L. Bauer will be conducted from the Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington, Nebraska on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Shields, officiating. A private family interment will be held at the Overton Cemetery at Overton, Nebraska prior to the Memorial Service.
Roger Lee Bauer, 74 years of age, of Overton, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home in Overton. Roger was born April 23, 1937 at Lexington, Nebraska, the third of thirteen children born to Alexander and Wilma Marie (Wiles) Bauer. He received his primary education through the eighth grade at the North 17 District School and then graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. He then pursued higher education at the Pueblo Business College in Pueblo, Colorado. Following his education, Roger served his country in the United States National Guards for six years, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On December 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Alyce M. McElhinny at Overton and to this union two children were born: Barry and Barb. The family made their home west of Overton. Roger owned and managed Farm and Home Services, a farm and feed supply store in Lexington for twenty-seven years. He also owned and managed Bauer Grain Elevator for five years. Throughout the years, he also farmed on the side and raised cattle and hogs. He was an investor in Centennial Swine south of Lexington. After retirement from Farm and Home Services, Roger enjoyed six years of employment at Husker-Ag John Deere at Lexington in equipment sales.
He thoroughly enjoyed giving back to his community and county, and made many friendship bonds throughout his years of service. Roger was influential in the "Our Family Highway 30 Beautification Project." His involvement in various organizations included: leader of the Overton Raiders 4-H horse club for nine years, leader of the First Time Cub Scout Pack, served on the Dawson County Extension Board, Captain of the Dawson County Plum Creekers Drill Team from 1970 – 1971, member of the Masonic Lodge and the Tri-County Shrine Club, served as a Board Member of the Dawson County Historical Society, and was honored to serve as a Dawson County Commissioner from 1994 until 2010. He was also a member of the Overton Christian Church.
Most of all, Roger loved the time spent with his family and grandchildren on weekends at their lake cabin on the southwest edge of Overton. He enjoyed following his grandsons in wrestling and basketball, and loved listening to his granddaughters in their musicals. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Carl and Dee McElhinny; brother-in-law, Ken Strickland; sister-in-law, Cathy Bauer and niece, Linda Thomsen.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 51 years, Alyce; son, Barry Bauer and his wife, Laurie of Overton; daughter, Barb Krueger and her husband, Paul of Bladen, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Madysen and her husband, Daniel, Sam, Jalisa, Jared, Will and Mitch; six brothers: Donald Bauer and his wife, Bonnie of Cozad, Nebraska, Larry Bauer and his wife, Joyce of Lexington, James Bauer and his wife, Carol of Cozad, Thomas Bauer of Farnam, Nebraska, Steven Bauer and his wife, Carol of Eddyville, Nebraska, and Michael Bauer of Bailey, Colorado; six sisters: Phyllis Robinson and her husband, Archie of Holdrege, Beverly Tomasek and her husband, Dale of Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Bauer of Littleton, Colorado, Julia Tucker of Lee Summit, Missouri, Dorothy Larson and her husband, Fred of Loveland, Colorado, and Marilyn Stephens of Englewood, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family on the McElhinny side and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Parkview Baptist Church at 803 West 18th in Lexington from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
