Raymond L. Schwarz, 71, of Lexington, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at his home south of Lexington, with his family near his side. Visitation will be held Wednesday (today), April 4, 2007, from 2-5 p.m., at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with wake service at 7 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.   

Survivors include his wife, Judi Schwarz of Lexington; one son, Shane (Daphne) Schwarz of Elwood; three daughters, Deb White of Lexington, Kris (Scott) Hueftle of Holdrege, and Mindi (Shawn) Area of Overton; one stepdaughter, Rochelle (Darin) Zebell of Marshfield, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; five brothers, Carl Schwarz and Mike (Sandra) Schwarz, both of Lexington, Keith (Cindy) Schwarz of Arapahoe, Kenny (Shirley) Schwarz of Elwood, and Eugene (Nancy) Schwarz of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Alice (Floyd) Wenburg and Martha (Wally) Hubbard, both of Lexington; mother-in-law, Blanche Searls of Eustis; brother-in-law, Sam (Eva) Searls of Eustis; and sister-in-law, Terri (Marvin) Tridle of Surprise, Ariz.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and two special friends, Merlin Holden and Joe Hernandez.   

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry and Bob; stepson, Chuck; father-in-law, Chick, and two infant children, Raymond Ernest and Sharol Lynn.   

Raymond was born July 4, 1935, at Smithfield, to Frank and Dorothy (Woodside) Schwarz. He was a graduate of Lexington High School with the class of 1953. Following graduation, he went to work for Paulsen Construction and Britton Construction. He then started Schwarz Brothers Construction with his brothers. Ray worked as a bricklayer until his health forced him to retire. He married Judi Searls on Oct. 22, 1988 at Kearney.He was a member of the Lexington Eagles Club and a social member of the Veteran's Memorial Club.     

Ray was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to "Make a Wish Foundation," the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Donna M. Linn, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born July 29, 1936, near Eustis, in Frontier County, Nebraska, to Ray A. and Neva B. (Hess) Rupe.

Donna moved with her family when she was 12 years old to the Lexington area. She attended school and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953. On October 9, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dean E. Linn at Eustis, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union; Michele, David and John.     

Donna's working career spanned many years, starting with working as a secretary for Fred Warnemunde, a legal secretary for Cloyd Clark in Elwood and a legal secretary for Larry Weber in Lexington. In 1986, she ran for and was elected Dawson County Clerk. She would serve Dawson County in this capacity until 2006.     

She was always a very hard-worker and put 100% into everything she did. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with her family. She enjoyed reading, watching Tiger Woods, coffeeing with friends, playing cards, cribbage and spending time with her great-granddaughter, Josie.     

Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church and a past member of Business and Professional Women. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.     

Survivors include one daughter: Mickey and husband Steve Reiter of Kearney, Nebraska Two sons: Dr. David and wife Grace Linn of Pine, Colorado, John Linn of Gering, Nebraska. Two sisters: Gloria and husband Harold Benzel of Dixon, California, Karen and husband Ed Darby of Lexington, Nebraska. Six grandchildren: Hannah Richter, Dawn Reiter, Jacob Reiter, Margaret, Anna and Sarah Linn. One great-granddaughter: Josalinn Richter.     

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.     

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverends John Craig and Jaime Farias officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Margaret A. (Wallace) Graves, 72, passed away on May 31, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.     

Margaret was born August 24, 1936, in Lexington, Nebraska to W. Clyde and Bernis (Meek) Wallace. She attended Robb School District 3 and Lexington High School graduating in 1953. After high school Margaret was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. On March 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to Clyde J. (C.J.) Graves at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. After settling first in Grand Island and then in O'Neill, Margaret welcomed the birth of her only child, Richard after which they moved to Gothenburg where Margaret was employed by the Gothenburg State Bank until they moved to North Platte where Margaret worked for First National Bank.     

After retiring in 1990 Margaret and CJ spent time traveling and later shuttled between their home in North Platte and their winter home in Mission, Texas. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church Choir in Gothenburg, a member of the Lake Maloney Golf Course and Two-Ten Extension Club in Gothenburg. She was an avid reader, horse lover and golfer. In 2007 Margaret made a hole in one on Martin's Golf Course in Palmview, Texas.

Margaret is survived by her husband Clyde (CJ), her son Richard Graves and his wife Crystal of Palo, Iowa, one grandchild, April, one brother Bob Wallace and wife Sue of Lexington, one sister, Marilyn Kring and husband Ken of Lexington, four nieces, Lori Compston and husband Dick of Lexington, Kathy Kring of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tracy and husband Colin Parsons of Sacramento Ca, and Tami Wallace of San Francisco Ca, and two great-nieces, Olivia Kate and Lily Margaret Parsons of Sacramento.     

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Wallace. She will be missed dearly by those who knew her best. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Libbie Rae Freeze, 78, of Pleasant Hill, Calif., died quietly in her sleep July 26, 2013 in Pleasant Hill. A graveside service will be held on Aug.12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif., where she will be placed next to her husband, Robert Freeze.    

Born in Cozad, Libbie grew up around Lexington with her brother, Gordon, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1953. She held various jobs as a bookkeeper, Teletype operator and filing clerk.    

In 1954, she married Robert W. Freeze, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and they moved west--looking for work—ending up San Diego, Calif., where she worked for a public accountant. A few years later, they relocated north to Livermore, Calif., where, and after a series of jobs, she eventually started her career at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she worked as a microfilm operator and film processor for 30 years until 1993.     

The couple learned to fly in the early 1960s, with both earning their private pilot licenses. They were active members of the Civil Air Patrol, and even owned a small Cessna airplane based at the Livermore Airport for several years. Starting in the 1970s, she and Robert started raising quarter horses at their ranch in Tracy, Calif., and became active in the Northern California horse show scene.     

In 1994, they retired from work and horses, and moved to Mokelumne Hill, Calif. There, she became active in a number of organizations including the Lion's Club, VFW, International Questers and volunteered at the local library.     

She had recently moved to Pleasant Hill to be closer to her family and had been living an active life with her dog Sugar, whom she took on frequent walks and was a familiar sight in the neighborhood.     

She is survived by her son, Kenneth L. (Michele) Freeze of Martinez, Calif, and her three grandchildren, Christopher L. Freeze, Sarah Furtado and Ann Furtado. Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years, Robert, and her daughter, Deborah E. Furtado.     

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Foundation of Frederick, Md. or Lions International. Connolly and Taylor in Martinez, Calif., is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth I. Carter of Cozad passed away July 9, 2017 at Cozad Care Center at the age of 82. Ruth was born July 3, 1935 at Lexington, Nebraska to Ira and Georgia (Oliver) Vance and was the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953. Ruth married Paul Carter in 1955. The couple lived in Chicago, Illinois where Paul was stationed while in the Army. In 1957, their son Robert was born. Shortly after, they moved back to Lexington where their daughter Laura was born. The family moved to Colorado where they resided for 13 years before returning to Cozad. Ruth worked for Evans Bakery in Cozad until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; daughter, Laura; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and many more relatives. Survivors include her son Robert Carter and wife Teresa of Kearney; grandchildren, Stephanie McKillop and husband Jeff, Jennifer Palu and husband Brad, April Yang and husband Peter and Ian Lemmer; great grandchildren, Juliet, Parker and Max McKillop, Harrison Palu and Madison and Carter Yang; 39 nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Clark Carter of Cozad; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Carter of Bertrand and Joan Vance of Omaha.

A graveside memorial service will be held will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Hewitt Cemetery east of Cozad with Rev. Victor Rasmussen officiating. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Wednesday from 1 to 5 at Berryman Funeral Home.
