Maiden Name: O'Connor

Kathleen Marie O’Connor Seberger, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. Kate was born on a farm near Plattsburg, Missouri, on September 11, 1935, to Dennis Leo O’Connor, Sr. and Mary Ellen Golden O’Connor. In 1939, her family moved to Lexington, Nebraska to open and operate Burns-O’Connor and Skinner Cattle Company. She graduated from Lexington High School in May of 1953. She attended 2 years at Loretto Heights Catholic College in Denver, Colorado, studying Journalism.

Shortly after she returned home, she married Richard Julian Seberger on June 2, 1956, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. They were fortunate to have over 52 years together before Rich passed away in 2010. Together they raised eight children and were proud grandparents to 23, and in the last year Kate was blessed with 2 great-grandchildren.

Family was very important to Kate, and raising a good family was her main purpose in life; her most cherished role was that of mother and grandmother. Knowing the importance of being involved, she sat on many school boards during the 34 years her children were in school. Also, she cooked for family, friends, and school children as one of her pastimes; eagerly fighting over her Special K Bars was a regular occurrence that made her smile. She worked in the Lexington Middle School kitchen and cafeteria for 22 years, and she fed all of her grandchildren that attended Lexington Middle School. In the summer, she enjoyed filling the backyard pool for her children and grandchildren to swim in.

Survivors include six sons; Richard, Jr. & Michelle, William & Pam, Alan & Katy, Kenneth & Dee, Daniel & Mary Jo, and Capt. Dennis and Melinda, all of Lexington. Two daughters; Mary & Greg Hiatt and Diane & Alan Pryor, all of Lincoln.

Twenty-three grandchildren; Kelsey and wife Lyndsey Hiatt, Jessica, Tori, Sarah, Logan Hiatt, Kathleen & husband Andrew Ostrom, Elizabeth, Alison and husband Andy Keirns, Courtney, Richard, III, “R.J.”, Bridget, Kyle, Allysa, Nicholas, Sydney, Eric, Casey, Kristian, Brandon, Sam, Nathan, Julian, and Adrianna. Two great-grandchildren; Olivia Flores and Lucas Keirns. Brother, Dennis O’Connor, Jr. of Lexington; Brothers-in-law; George & Delores Seberger of Garden Valley, CA, and Joseph & Marcelene Seberger of Bakersfield, CA, and sister-in-law, Mary (Mrs. Robert) Seberger of Redding, CA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
