Fay M. Maloley, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Services will be held Monday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, with Reverend Todd Karges, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2-5 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. He is survived by his wife, Kay Maloley of Lexington; sons, Fred (Pam) Maloley of Lexington, Paul (Kim) Maloley of Gardendale, Ala., Mike Maloley of Lexington; daughters, Julie (Michael) Exstrom of Cheyenne, Wyo., Beth (Chris) Forcade of Omaha, Lori (Marc) Hock of Grand Island, Jennifer Maloley and Chris Leet of Lincoln; one brother, George Maloley of Lexington; one sister, Sally (Jim) Meehan of Denver; 15 grandchildren, Tasha (Ken) Hamilton, Stephanie Maloley, Neal Maloley, Isaac, Amelia Maloley, Eric, Darin and Melanie Exstrom, Nate and Drew Price, Ethan and Joseph Forcade, Miles and Logan Hock and Juniper Leet; two great-grandchildren, Madyson Maloley and Terran Hamilton.     

Fay was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Donald and brothers, Esa and Anthony.     

He was born March 21, 1932, in Lexington to Assad Fred and Julia (Sadd) Maloley.     

Fay grew up east of Lexington where he attended District 17 country school and then Lexington High School.     

Following his schooling, he farmed the Maloley ground and then entered the United States Army in October of 1952. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged in August of 1954. Upon his return to Lexington he continued to farm.     

He married Kay Slater on April 13, 1957, at Grand Island. Seven children were blessed to this union. The family moved to Wyoming for one year while Fay worked at the State Training Facility for the Handicapped doing their gardening and farming. They returned to Lexington where they lived on the farm until his death.     

Fay was a member of St. George Orthodox Church in Kearney and the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. He also was a past Commander of the VFW in Lexington and the Vice-Commander for the Disabled American Veterans.

Sharon Dee Fisher, 71, of Lexington died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Berean Bible Church in Lexington. Pastor Glenn Johnson will officiate.   

Inurnment was held prior to the memorial service in Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.

Sharon was born May 30, 1934, at Lexington to Wrex A. and Ruth L. (McCarter) Greenlee.   

Survivors include her husband, Bob Fisher of Lexington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dan and Rebecca Weller of North Platte, and David of Lexington; a daughter, Barbara Perkins of Lexington; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Ken Brauer of Eustis, and Wanda Hopkins of Columbus, Ohio.   

Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Angela Perkins, William Perkins, Abigail, Courtney, Katelyn, Ben, Jessica and Sandra Weller; and four great-grandchildren: Natalee, Blake, Jonis and Robby.     

Sharon was a graduate of Lexington High School with the Class of 1951. She was united in marriage to Robert G. Fisher on March 7, 1951, at Lexington.   

She was an employee and manager for Morris Press from 1978, until purchased by the present owners, Mid-Nebraska Printing in the spring of 2005, when her illness prevented her from going to work.    

She was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Lexington, as well as the VFW Auxiliary.    

For the past several years Sharon and Bob hosted a Bible study in their home with members of their church, as well as others not associated with the church.   

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Larry and a sister, Rosalie.

Rickie Calkins, 71, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Lexington, died late last week at Fort Collins, Colo. Services were Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Fort Collins, Colo.   

Rickie was born Harriet Anne Rickertsen in an Alliance farmhouse in 1934. She graduated in 1951 from Lexington High School.   

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bob Calkins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jerry Bodar of Dubois,Wyo., and Carol Calkins and Shawn Powell of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Calkins and Anne Talbot of Scottsbluff and Bill Calkins of Denver; her stepmother Eva Rickertsen of Lexington; a sister, Mary Ruth Gauger of Raymond, Wash.; and a brother, Harold Rickertsen of St. Paul.   

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Justin Eckland and his spouse, Heidi Eckland of Sterling Colo., Hannah Calkins of Scottsbluff, and Brooke Bodar of Dubois; and a great-grandchild, Ezra Eckland.During her life, Rickie lived in Lexington, Kimball, Omaha, Scottsbluff and Fort Collins, Colo.   

A gifted musician and accomplished pianist who sang soprano and inspired many congregations with her mastery of the organ, she was also employed as a nursing instructor at Nebraska Western College, a medication nurse in a Fort Collins, Colo., nursing home, and as an advocate for disabled children through Head Start in Scottsbluff.   

Accomplishments include the founding of a Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization called Friends Incorporated in Scottsbluff; advocating for all people on the Human Rights Commission of Fort Collins, and helping to found the Northern Colorado Parents and Friends of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender Persons (PFLAG) group.   

She was a prolific writer, having published a health care manual for children through the Nebraska Department of Health (Healthy Happy Me), and a very popular brochure for PFLAG, titled, "Could Your Precious Child Be Gay?" as well as many articles for magazines and newspapers through the years.   

She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) in Fort Collins and also a member of Chapter AL, P.E.O. for many years.

Jack D. Sherman, 72, of Johnson Lake died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Todd Karges and John Craig officiating. There will be Masonic rites at the church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington with military honors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

He was born July 21, 1933, in Lexington to Ralph and Lottie (Brummet) Sherman.

On Sept. 4, 1955, he married Peggy Todd in Lexington.   

Survivors include his wife; sons, Brad of Tucson, Jeff of Littleton, Colo., and Greg Sherman of Honolulu; daughter, Penny Emil of Huntington Beach, Calif.; brothers, Bob of Lexington and Dick of Phoenix; and sister, Donna Malone of Fremont.   

Additional survivors include daughter-in-law, Lori Sherman of Littleton; son-in-law, Rich Emil of Huntington Beach; sister-in-law, Pat Sherman of Lexington; brother-in-law, Jim Malone of Fremont; and grandchildren, Nathan Sherman, Joey Sherman, Sammi Sherman and Sierra Emil.   

He grew up in Lexington where he attended school and graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. After graduation, he worked for Claussen's Shoe Store in Kearney. He entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 10, 1953, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 3, 1955.   

He and his wife lived for a time in Kearney where he worked for Claussen's Shoe Store. They moved to Lexington where he worked for Todd Buick. It was at this time that he began selling insurance for Paul Revere. He moved to Omaha in 1965. He worked for National Traveler's Insurance Co., then became an independent broker. He semiretired in 1998 and moved to Johnson Lake.   

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Tehama Shrine, Lakeside Country Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.   

He so enjoyed living at the lake where he fished, played golf, played pitch, visited with friends and traveled to visit the couple's children every winter. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.   

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim.

Ronald Eugene Wickenkamp, 73, of Seal Beach, Calif., died Feb. 4, 2007.

Funeral mass was held Feb. 15, 2007, at St Pancratius Church in Lakewood, Calif. Burial was at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, Calif. Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline and her children, Michelle Lundvall, and Michael and Mark Powers; one sister, Ruth Wickenkamp Reed of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Paul (Betty) Wickenkamp of Holyoke, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Wickenkamp of Post Falls, Idaho; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Eunice; and his brother, Theodore.  

Ronald was born July 30, 1933, at Elwood, to Walter and Ruby Moncrief Wickenkamp. He attended rural schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Lexington.

He studied radio and electronics at Milford Trade School for one year then returned to Lexington to work.   

Ronald served in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. After separation from the army he enrolled at the University of Nebraska. He returned to Lexington where he worked as a mechanic, then moved to California where he worked for his brother Theodore. He was employed by Douglas Air Craft Corp. of Long Beach, Calif. for many years. 

 Ronald married Jacqueline Walker Powers Nov. 13, 1965. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Pancratius Church of Lakewood, Calif.

Dorothy (Racek) Runyan, age 73 of Fremont, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at the Fremont Area Medical Center.   

A cremation will take place followed by a private service at a later date. A memorial has been established.

She was born March 26, 1934 on the Racek Homestead in Dawson County. She moved to Lexington, where she graduated from Lexington High School. After graduating, Dorothy taught multiple subjects at a one-room schoolhouse in the country outside of Lexington.  She and James Eggleston married and had five children.  

In 1970, she married Arthur Runyan and moved to Omaha. She gave birth to her sixth child in 1971. She worked in Omaha as a private secretary and bartender until retiring in 2005. Upon retirement, she moved to Fremont where she lived at Stanton Tower.

Beverly Darlene Stark, age 74, of Lexington, formerly of Bertrand and Loomis, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Visitation will be at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the family greeting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Following the visitation, the family is honoring Beverly's wish for cremation. Beverly was born Feb. 11, 1933, west of Oconto in Custer County, the fourth of nine children of Gerald and Velma (Garringer) Horn. She received her primary education in Custer County and then attended Lexington High School, graduating with the class of 1951. She then pursued higher education at Kearney State College. Beverly then taught school in Custer, Dawson and Phelps Counties for three years.     

On Nov. 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Darrel "Dee" Stark and to this union six children were born, Darla, Daniel, Darrie, Dawn, Della and Dora. The family made their home north of Loomis, where Dee fed cattle and farmed until 1976. Beverly drove school bus for the Loomis Public School for many years. Beverly and Dee treasured the bonds formed through the years caring for several foster children. On Feb. 6, 2006, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dee.     

Beverly was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, was a 4-H leader when the children were young, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the Bertrand Nursing Home. She enjoyed embroidering, jigsaw puzzles and word find puzzles. Beverly's attended her grandchildren's activities and enjoyed family get-togethers.

Denzel D. Mills, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.     

Denzel was born August 24, 1933, at Eustis, Nebraska, the only child of Walter and Verla (Johnson) Mills. He lived in the Eustis and Cozad area until 1944, when the family purchased the farm east of Lexington where he lived until his marriage. He attended rural schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. In 1955, he graduated from the college of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska and then served in the United States Army for two years.     

On December 1, 1967, Denzel married Janet Brummet in Lexington. They were blessed with two sons; Mark and Ross. He held various sales positions before purchasing and operating Ace Termite and Pest Control. Denzel worked as a C.N.A. at Plum Creek Care Center for several years, and later drove the Lexington HandiBus where he enjoyed helping the people whom he transported.     

Denzel enjoyed gardening and loved cultivating flowers. He never could seem to wait for the winter to be over so he could start working on his garden and flower beds. This interest led him to volunteer as a board member of the Keep Lexington Beautiful campaign for a number of years, as well as taking care of the yard and flower beds at the Lexington Evanglical Free Church where he was a regular attender. Denzel also volunteered as an ESL helper for the local community college.     

Survivors include his wife: Janet Mills of Lexington, Nebraska. Sons: Mark (Ann) Mills of Pella, Iowa Ross (Holli) Mills of Bellevue, Nebraska. Five grandchildren: Eric, Stephen, and Justin Mills of Bellevue, Nebraska and Emily and William Mills of Pella, Iowa. Mother-in-law: Vera Brummet of Lexington, Nebraska. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Geraldine and William Powell of Gordon, Nebraska. Cousins and other family members. Denzel was preceded in death by his parents.

Leona McNulty, age 74 of Lexington, formerly of Cozad, died May 11, 2008 at Lexington. Survivors include her husband, Barney McNulty of Lexington; four daughters, Bonnia (Robert) Morris of Anchorage, Alaska, Wendy (Michael) Judy of Hastings, Kristie (Greg) Wagner of Lexington, and Tami (Kal) Orr of Marcus, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Bev Major of Omaha, Judith (Oran) Smock of Cozad, Mary Major of Lexington; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cleo Eaves; two brothers, Bobby and Gary.   

Leona was born Nov. 30, 1933 at Lexington, to Raleigh and Dorothy (Brooks) Major. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. She attended Kearney State College where she attained a teaching certificate.   

On Nov. 14, 1953, she married Barney McNulty, Jr. The couple made their home in Cozad. To this union, four daughters were born. She was a rural school teacher at the District 34 school North of Cozad; and later, District S. 3 east of Lexington. In 1961, she began working at the Monroe Auto Equipment Company, retiring in 1997.   

She was a member of the Church of Christ on Newell, where she was a choir member. She was a member of the Rural Teacher's Association where she had served as an officer. She was also a member of the King's Daughters.

Donald Raymond Hennek, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.     

Don was born October 9, 1932, at Lexington, Nebraska to Claude F. and Rosey K. (Hofreiter) Hennek. Don attended primary school in Lexington and graduated with the class of 1951, where he was active in football, basketball and track. Some of his closest friends from school remained a part of his life up until the end. Don also loved playing little league baseball and enjoyed playing city league ball.   

Following graduation from high school, he attended a two year program at the Radio Engineering Institute and was also a part of the Nebraska National Guard at the same time. He was united in marriage to Margy Peterson at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington on September 3, 1956. Seven daughters blessed this marriage; Deb, Kim, Karla, Kyle, Jennifer, Lisa and Lori.     

Don was always an active part of the Lexington community. He owned and operated Don's TV for 5 years and then went into business with his brother, Gene. They owned Hennek and Company Furniture and Hardware, until the store closed in 1979. Following the closing of the store, Don ran a sporting goods store, worked for the True Value store in Cozad, Midway Supply in Lexington, Napa in Lexington and Barmore Drug.     

Don was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Lion's Club, founding member of the Lexington Diplomats, and former President of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.     

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, repairing fishing tackle, spending time at the lake, boating and anytime his girls were home, was a special time for him.

His fellow classmates from the class of 1951 were so important to him, and his last class reunion in 2011, will always be cherished with memories.     

Survivors include his wife: Margy Hennek of Lexington, Nebraska; Seven daughters: Deb (Jim) Tuepker of Lexington, NE; Kimberly Hall (late John Hall) of Bellevue, NE; Karla (David) Zlatkovsky of Lexington, NE; Kyle (Mike) Andersen of North Sioux City, SD; Jennifer (David) Bennett of Omaha, NE; Lisa (Craig) Mears of Keller, TX, and Lori (Kurt) Weinberg of Lake Crystal, MN. One sister: Joanne Winter of Papillion, Nebraska.     

Seventeen wonderful grandchildren: Beth (Jeff) Daake of Lincoln, NE; Clinton Lauby of Columbia, MO; Jake Zlatkovsky of Lincoln, NE; Danielle Tuepker of North Plate, NE; Emily Bennett of Blue Springs, MO; Ethan Bennett of Omaha, NE; Katie & Abbie Hall of Bellevue, NE; Matthew Bennett of Omaha, NE; Jennifer Tuepker of Keller, TX; Marc (Michelle) Tuepker of Minneapolis, MN; Chris Hall of Binghampton, NY; Phillip (Angelina) Hall of Boaz, AL; Kevin, Kyle & Chris Mears of Keller, TX, and Dylan Andersen of Sioux City, SD; and four cherished great-grandsons; Miles Tuepker, Broc, C.J., and Ethan Hall. The family has honored Don's wishes that his body be cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 12:00 Noon, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Neal Nollette officiating. Inurnment will be held prior at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery.   

Family will be greeting friends from 6-7 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church Friday, August 17, 2012, with a Wake Service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
