Maiden Name: Martin

Virginia Martin Alfredson (you probably know her as "Gina"), 85, of Aurora, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Her spirit is carried on by her three children, Sonja Giles, Helen Sauzek and Bill (Stacy) Alfredson, all of Aurora, CO.

Virginia was very close to her extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Virginia during her 85 years, relating to life, love and happiness.

She was born on November 9, 1932, in Lexington, NE, the daughter of Grant and Alice (Neff) Martin. In 1951 Virginia graduated from Lexington High School. She attended Nebraska Weslyan College in Lincoln, NE for 1 1/2 years. She moved to Colorado at the age of 19. She worked as a loan officer in the banking industry, retiring from UMB. She sang passionately with the Lamp Lighter's Quartet and Sweet Adeline's both in Denver. She was always willing to turn up the radio and start a dance party in the kitchen. Virginia enjoyed needlework, sewing, gardening, swimming, dancing and cooking sweets.

She never forgot her roots, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers was a must. Every Sunday, in the fall Virginia served as a loyal Denver Bronco's fan. Her love of sports grew as her children had babies of their own. Virginia stood on the sidelines as the number one fan during each grandchild's football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball games, cheer leading competitions and dance recitals.

She is survived by her children; her brother Bob (Glenda) Martin, Lexington, NE; and her grandchildren, Brittany (Jesse) Dittrich, Rawlins, WY, Tanner Giles, Aurora, CO, Tyler Giles, Aurora, CO, Robert Sauzek, Aurora, CO, Brody Sauzek, Aurora, CO, Cameron Alfredson, Aurora, CO, Caitlyn Alfredson, Aurora, CO, and Grant Alfredson, Aurora, CO.

She was predecesed by her parents and her sister Phyllis Fagot.

A Celebration of Life will be held at her daughter's, Sonja Giles home at 6307 S. Walden Way, Aurora, CO 80016, on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1-4 p.m..

In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.

A loving tribute by a grandson:
As you all know my grandma passed away on Wednesday at 10:45 my mom and I were right by her side as the angels lifted her away.We both told her that she could go because we wanted her to do the things she loved like singing, dancing and swimming. This was the saddest day of my entire life although I knew she would be better up there looking over me and my family as our guardian angel.(Grandma I had the best time taking care of you for the last 5 weeks it meant so much to me I will never forget the times we shared and the laughter that we had❤🙏!!) I love you grandma forever and ever with all my heart ❤! - Tanner Giles
