Leona McNulty, age 74 of Lexington, formerly of Cozad, died May 11, 2008 at Lexington. Services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Newell in Cozad with Mike Dennis and K. C. BeDunnah officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, from 1-8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.   

Survivors include her husband, Barney McNulty of Lexington; four daughters, Bonnia (Robert) Morris of Anchorage, Alaska, Wendy (Michael) Judy of Hastings, Kristie (Greg) Wagner of Lexington, and Tami (Kal) Orr of Marcus, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Bev Major of Omaha, Judith (Oran) Smock of Cozad, Mary Major of Lexington; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cleo Eaves; two brothers, Bobby and Gary.   

Leona was born Nov. 30, 1933 at Lexington, to Raleigh and Dorothy (Brooks) Major. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. She attended Kearney State College where she attained a teaching certificate.   

On Nov. 14, 1953, she married Barney McNulty, Jr. The couple made their home in Cozad. To this union, four daughters were born. She was a rural school teacher at the District 34 school North of Cozad; and later, District S. 3 east of Lexington. In 1961, she began working at the Monroe Auto Equipment Company, retiring in 1997.   

She was a member of the Church of Christ on Newell, where she was a choir member. She was a member of the Rural Teacher's Association where she had served as an officer. She was also a member of the King's Daughters.
