James ‘Jim’ Mallet, 84 of Arizona passed away Feb. 29, 2016. He was born on Dec. 31, 1931 in Lexington, NE. His parents were Mark Edward and Gertrude (Campbell) Mallett. He grew up and attended schools in Lexington, NE graduating with the class of 1950.

On October 22, 1955 he married Jean Odstrcil in Lexington and they moved to Colorado in 1959. Jim served in the National Guard for 10 years and then began his career as a fireman with Denver Fire Dept in 1960. He retired in 1985. In 1970, he started Transco Inc., servicing trucking companies in Greeley and later across the country. 

He enjoyed Nebraska and CU football, UNC Volleyball in Greeley, CO Rockies, as well as gardening, traveling, boating and water skiing. 

Jim was a member of the Elks, Czech Club in Arizona and Retired Firefighters of Denver.

Jim is survived by his wife Jean of AZ, Sons, Michael (Any) Phoenix, Steven of Greeley, CO, Patrick (D.J.) of Littleton, CO, Tom (Tanya) of Torrance, CA and John (Lori) of Aurora, CO; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Adamson Chapel. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Denver Firefighter’s Museum in care of Adamson Funeral, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
