Lorraine Warner, 77, of Gothenburg, died on May 18, 2008 at Gothenburg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, with Lonna Grabenstein, PMA officiating. Burial will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Visitation was on Tuesday, May 20, at the American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ben of Gothenburg; two sons Lonnie (Sandy) Warner; Brad (Michele) Warner, all of Gothenburg; three daughters, Patricia (Duane) Stevens of Sumner, Linda (Eldon) Rodine of Gothenburg, Pamela (Michael) Houchin of Gothenburg; one brother Marion Johnson of Curtis; one sister Elaine (Bill) Holliday of Lexington; ten grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Charles) Taylor, Derek Rodine, Kiel (Lacey) Stevens, Kasia Stevens, Adam and Caleb Warner, James (Mia) Houchin, Travis Houchin, Joseph and Raymond Warner; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Jerold; a sister-in-law Retha Johnson; and a grandson Joshua Dale Warner.
Lorraine Margaret was born on Oct. 15, 1930 at Freedom, to Knowles and Lillian (Johnson) Bush. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Bartley and attended school at Farnam. She lived at Farnam and Lexington. She graduated in 1948 from Lexington High School.
On Aug. 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ben Warner at Lexington, and to this union five children were born.
Lorraine worked at Evans Bakery, Slacks Nursing Home and Hilltop Estates. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

William "Bill" Thomas Karr, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska, where he had been a resident for just a few days.
He was born August 22, 1928, in Miller, Nebraska, to Guy Winfred and Mary Veronica (Curran) Karr. He attended his early elementary years in Overton, Nebraska until his family moved to Lexington where he attended public school until graduating in 1948. As a young adult he worked for his father in the hay business. On November 27, 1955, he married Kay Ruth Yeiter in Cozad, Nebraska. They moved to a farm south of Cozad where Bill farmed for 45 years. Bill was married to Kay for 32 years, until her death in 1987. He then married Lois Lorraine Michel in January of 1989. He retired from farming in 1999, and moved to Lexington.
Bill was active in 4-H and Sparerib Clubs. He held many offices in the Presbyterian Church through the years. He started Darr Packing in earlier years. He loved farm life, tending to the hogs and cattle. He was a caring and loving person all of his life. The family will really miss such a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. "Farewell "Will".
Survivors include his wife: Lois Karr of Lexington, Nebraska. Sons: Mike & Leann Karr of Laguna Hills, California, Scott & Terry Tomasek of Omaha, Nebraska. Daughters: Nancy & John Abel of Montrose, Colorado, Kelly & Steve Schneider of Grand Island, Nebraska. Seven grandchildren: Kelsey, Jana and Matt Karr of California; Katie & Holly Abel of Montrose, California; Tucker Tomasek of Monroe, Washington; Trista Tomasek of Kansas City, Missouri. One great-grandson: Seth Karr of California. One sister: Vivian Grange of Hood River, Oregon. A Nephew: Jack Lhotak of Lexington, Nebraska. Bill was preceded in death, in addition to his first wife, by his parents and six sisters.

Doris J. Parks, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was born January 17, 1931, at Oxford, Nebraska, to Leland and Hazel (Strever) McInturf.
Doris graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1948. She went on to further her education at Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa. She returned to Lexington following college and worked at Baumgartner's 5 & 10.
She was united in marriage to Garner Parks on August 21, 1965, at the Church of Christ in Lexington, Nebraska. Garner was a widowed father of five children and Doris raised these kids as her own.
Doris was an excellent seamstress. She sewed the men's suits and ladies' dresses for several of the children's weddings. She was a wonderful cook and crocheted beautiful afghans for each member of the family.
Doris was a charter member of the Church of Christ. She was always very active in the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and director of Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include three sons: David & Doris Parks of Owatonna, Minnesota, Ron & Ginn Parks of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dan & Terry Parks of Rockville, Maryland, Two daughters: Lanette & Mark Loseke of Kearney, Nebraska, Cheryl & David Eakins of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Garner on April 28, 2008.

Harley A. Richardson, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, June 21st, 2010, at Cozad Community Hospital.
He was born May 2nd, 1931, on the farm south of Lexington to Herbert and Matilda (Lantz) Richardson. Harley was a 1948 graduate of Lexington High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Nebraska.
Harley was united in marriage to Jeanette Neville on November 10th, 1951, at Broken Bow, Nebraska. Following the couple's marriage Harley entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After moving a few times with the military, they returned to the farm south of Lexington.
He was a member of St. Peter's in the Valley Episcopal Church, the American Legion, Sparerib Club and Lakeside Country Club. Harley was a rural mail carrier for several years, helped deliver meals-on-wheels, enjoyed Nebraska Cornhusker football and was a member of the N Club.
Harley loved attending his children's and grandchildren's school activities and traveling with Jeanette.
Survivors include his son, Jeff (Amy) Richardson of Kearney, Nebraska; daughters, Terry (Scott) Tomasek of Omaha, Nebraska and Cindy Schmeeckle of Cozad, Nebraska; sister, Pauline Stoddard of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Mindy Allen of Bellevue, Nebraska, Tucker Tomasek of Seattle Washington, Chad Schmeeckle of Phoenix, Arizona, Trista Tomasek of Kansas City, Missouri, Joe Richardson of Kearney, Chris (Chelsea) Schmeeckle of Springfield, Missouri, Gabby Schmeeckle of Cozad, Nebraska and Marcus Richardson of Omaha, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Jessica and Tommy Allen; one niece, one nephew, many cousins and friends.

Elaine F. Holliday, 80, of Lexington, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad. Funeral Services were Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Tess Hufford officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Elaine was a 1948 graduate of Lexington High School. She was united in marriage to Bill Holliday on Oct. 19, 1949, at Lexington. Two sons were blessed to this marriage, Rod and Dan.
Elaine spent much of her time taking care of other people. She so enjoyed her time working with the elderly at Westside Care Home and going into people's homes and taking care of them there. She loved her "patients" as if they were family. She loved being outdoors and growing her beautiful flowers. She collected crystal, stamps and made beautiful crocheted afghans.
For the past 30 years one could see Elaine helping Bill with their lawn business, mowing and weeding. They were the original "Keep Lexington Beautiful" couple.
Elaine was a 50-plus-years active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill Holliday of Lexington; two sons, Dan Holliday of Lexington, Rod Holliday of Waxahachie, Texas; one brother, Marion Johnson of Curtis; one brother-in-law, Ben Warner of Gothenburg; three grandchildren, Stacey (Nate) Loose of Lincoln, Matt (Shayla) Holliday of Hastings, Rodney, Jr. (Suzanne) Holliday of Waxahachie, Texas and six great-grandchildren, Kyra and Riley Loose, Blake and Morgan Holliday and Ryan and Noah Holliday. Elaine is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James F. Roberts, 80, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Lincoln. Jim was born June 11, 1930, in Lexington, to John H. and Athea L. (Hines) Roberts. Jim was a graduate of Lexington High School, attended Wabash College in Indiana, and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
He was an outstanding leader and innovator in the beef industry at the state and national levels. He was founder and owner of Roberts Cattle Company in Lexington. He was a member of the University of Nebraska Foundation Board of Trustees, the Chancellor's Club at the University of Nebraska, Cattlemen, and National Cattlemen's Beef Association.
Jim was the Agricultural 2001 Committee Chairman, President of Ag Builders, a member of Lincoln Foundation Board of Directors, and was appointed to the Task Force for Higher Education in 1984, by Governor Bob Kerrey. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, the Lexington Masonic Lodge (Thistle Lodge) and the American Legion. Jim served his country as a staff sergeant in the Nebraska Air National Guard.
Jim was the recipient of the Ak-Sar-Ben Agriculture Achievement Award in 1983, and the Nebraska Hall of Agriculture Achievement in 1983. He was named the NCA's National Cattle Businessman of the Year in 1987, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Block and Bridle Club Honoree in 1988, Nebraska Builders recipient in 1989, and received the Business Leadership Award from the Alumni Association of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Roberts of Lincoln; children, John (Darci) Roberts of Lincoln, Dan (Tempie) Roberts of Lexington, Steve (Cheryl) Roberts of Omaha, Chris (Lori) Hansen of Holbrook, Gini (Burlin) Germany of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lorrie (Brett) Scott of College Station, Texas and Cara (Norm Clarke) Roberts of Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim was always an active part of the children's lives. He often thought of his employees as family also. Jim will be very missed.
He was also survived by his former wife, Barbara Roberts of Tucson, Ariz., as well as 11 grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Athea.

Jane Alkire Hibberd, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington.
Jane was born on April 19, 1930, in Lexington, Nebraska to Leonard and Helen (Teets) Alkire. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and attended Nebraska Wesleyan. After her children entered public school, she enrolled at Kearney State College and earned a BA followed by a MA in Elementary education (magna cum laude). Jane taught 2nd grade at Bryan Elementary for 24 years influencing the lives and education of hundreds of young people.
She was united in marriage to William C. Hibberd on May 12, 1951. This union produced three sons: Charles, Brian and James Hibberd.
Jane was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, always engaged in their education and activities. She inspired them to become better educated, more productive citizens and valued members of their communities. Jane was actively engaged in the First United Methodist Church in a variety of service roles including United Methodist Women, and ESL classes for new Lexington residents. Jane loved her friends and enjoyed her membership in Chapter GR P.E.O., the Lexington Investors group and strong supporter of the Lexington Community Foundation. She loved to travel and ventured to Eastern Europe, China and Alaska.
Survivors include three sons and their families: Chuck and Janel Hibberd of West Lafayette, IN and children Matt of St. Louis and Katie of West Lafayette, IN. Brian Hibberd of Bremerton, WA and children Jenni and Christopher of Minneapolis, MN. Jim and Marcia Hibberd of Longmont, CO and son Ben of Longmont, CO. Jane is also survived by her brother David and June Alkire of Matthews, NC and sisters-in-law Dee and Dale Kugler of Lexington and Rosie Jelden of Greeley, CO.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Hibberd, brother Leonard Eugene Alkire, and parents, Leonard and Helen (Teets) Alkire. Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating. Wilma Faye (Linn) Nansel, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, died March 24, 2012 at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born November 22, 1930 in rural Lexington, Nebraska. She was the only child of Millard and Nellie (Peters) Linn. She attended rural school in Dawson County and graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and Nebraska State Teachers College(University of Nebraska Kearney) in 1952. She taught high school business classes in Arnold, Nebraska for 1 year.
Wilma married Wayne Nansel on June 6, 1953, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple lived on Wayne's family farm in Arnold, Nebraska until 1954 when they moved to her present home south of the Darr Bridge, the former Elmer Grafton farm.
Wilma was a member of the Lexington First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Presbyterian Women. She cherished any opportunity to enhance her extensive knowledge of the Bible and she lived by example of her strong faith in God. Playing rummy and joking around her family were favorite past times. She enjoyed farm life and especially gardening and raising chickens.
Survivors include: two sons, Alan and Lynda Nansel, Little Rock, Arkansas, Gene Nansel, Lexington, Nebraska; three daughters, Kathy and Kent Trembly, Wahoo, Nebraska, Marcia Nansel and Marty Russon, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Diane and Mark Hall, Johnston, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Christo) Philip, Jennifer (Ryan) Gross, Kristina Trembly, David (Lacy) Trembly, Andrew Czapla, Alyssa Czapla, Ian Nansel, Daniel Nansel, Reed Zapf and Rachel Heft; four great-grandchildren Karuna, Luke and Vivek Philip and Hadlee Trembly; two step-granchildren, Alexandra Russon and Andrew Russon. Wilma was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, a son-in-law Thomas Czapla, brother-in-law Gary Bassett, sister-in-law Charlotte Nansel, niece Sandra Coleman and grandchild, Ryan Zapf.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska. A private family burial service will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad, Nebraska.

Henry W. "Hank" Barnes, 80, of Amarillo, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at the LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel with the Rev. Lance Herrington officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
The family received friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 8310 S. Coulter.
Henry, better known as Hank, was born Aug. 6, 1932 in Broken Bow, to Roy and Ella Barnes. He attended School in Callaway until his junior year in high school, when his family moved to Lexington, where he graduated from high school in 1948.
He married Della Pinkerton in Lexington on March 4, 1956. Hank enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Hank and Della moved to San Antonio in the spring of 1957 and moved to Amarillo in 1976. He spent his entire life working in the construction industry, working in almost all types of construction from highway to land leveling, pipeline work and finally building construction. He loved his work and was dedicated and loyal to his employers. Mr. Barnes was a loving and devoted Christian husband. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Della; a brother, Clifford (Mary) Barnes of Lexington; two sisters, Donna Mae (Larry) Crain of San Antonio, JoAnn (Richard) Woehrle of Lexington and many loving nieces and nephews.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Mae Barnes and five brothers, Robert, LaVerne, Dean Brown, Raymond and Larry.

Gilbert Walter Gierhan, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
He was born February 18, 1931, in York, Nebraska, to Walter and Alma (Struempler) Gierhan. He moved to the family farm northwest of Lexington when he was one. Gilbert attended rural school and then graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1948. He then went on to further his education at the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
On December 1, 1951, Gilbert enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1959. His rank was Staff Sargeant; and he was a mechanic on the B-36 airplane, The Peacemaker.
Gilbert was united in marriage to Ethel Brodin on December 10, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Steven, Brenda, Coleen, and Alan.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a past member of the Dawson County Extension Board, Dawson County Feeder's Board, Lexington Co-op Board, 4-H Leader, and Plum Creek Area Barbershoppers. Gilbert enjoyed reading, visiting Air Force museums and air shows. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and talking farming with his sons and neighbors.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Ethel of 58 years; sons; Steven (Lori) Gierhan of Lexington, Nebraska; and, Alan Gierhan of Lexington, Nebraska; daughters; Brenda (Alan) Bucher of Allen, Texas; and, Coleen (Don) Pegler of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Gierhan; and, sister Carolyn Fisher.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 24, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.
