Marylyn (Lindy) Curtis, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at her home in Leisure World at Mesa, Ariz., just 25 days after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  A service celebrating Lindy's life was held on Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Broadway Christian Church in Mesa, Ariz., officiated by Pastor John Enabnit and Pastor Richard Abbott. Burial was Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Mountainview Memorial Gardens at Mesa. Mountainview Memorial Gardens of Mesa was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years; three daughters, Christy (Richard) Abbott of Cedarege, Colo., Connie (Steve) Casey of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Cara Lee (Bob) Berg of Gilbert, Ariz.; one son, Jeff Curtis of Mesa.; one sister, Van (Bill) Kloepping of Lexington, their son and three daughters and families; and eight grandchildren, Aaron (Hayley) Abbott, Becca (Brian) Kuster, Jordan Lyn Abbott, McKenna and Kellin Casey and Jason, Jenna Lee and Jessica Berg. She was preceded in death by a son, Joel Reed; her parents; her sister, Evelyn; and her brother-in-law, Harold Fagot.    Lindy was born July 19, 1924, near Holdrege to John and Tillie Lindblade, the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1941, and attended the University of Nebraska. She studied journalism and worked as a secretary in Lincoln, Dallas and Denver. She was also a United Airlines passenger agent for a few years through the late 1940s and 1950s. Lindy worked as a contract model for the Alexander Film Company in Colorado Springs.

On Sept. 1, 1949, she married Gene Curtis of Denver on the Bride and Groom radio program in Hollywood. The couple moved to Glenwood Springs, Colo., where Lindy was a member of the Art Guild. She and her husband were blessed with three daughters and a son.

Throughout her life she continued to model, teach young aspiring models and narrate fashion shows. For six years, she taught a Christian youth education program from her home, which she called Junior B.A.S.I.C. School (Brothers and Sisters in Christ).

Lindy was a published author and a poet writing children's stories songs, and in 1994 her 96-page poetry book was published and copies are now all over the world. She was a frequent contributor to the Christian Communicator magazine and wrote a number of articles that appeared in Forel Times, The Glenwood Post, Leisure World News and a number of other magazines, periodicals and newspapers. Lindy and Gene moved to Mesa 22 years ago where Lindy became involved in serving at Broadway Christian Church, had a nursing home ministry, and was a member and leader of Hope Fellowship in Leisure World. T. Dean Stuckey, 84, longtime Lexington resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln. Visitation was Friday, March 2, 2007, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, with the Rev. Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Stuckey of Lexington; two sons, Tom Stuckey Jr. of Omaha, and Ed (Sally) Stuckey of Appleton, Wis.; two daughters, Diana (Richard) Pitcher of Grand Island, and Dixie (John) Bednar of Omaha; one brother, David Stuckey of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla.; one sister, Helen Barrett of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Corrie (Don) Wesley, Melinda Westerlin, Joe Westerlin, Andy Pitcher, Ryan (Kelley) Pitcher, Katie (Chris) Lyon, Rachel Stuckey, Ben Stuckey and Allyson Stuckey; and five great-grandchildren, Alli, Dillon, Casey, Nic and CJ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Jim, and Bob; and one sister, Ruth.

Dean was born Dec. 9, 1922, to Ed and Gertrude (Memmott) Stuckey at Lexington, and lived there until his death with the exception of the time he spent in the United States Navy. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1941. He was inducted into the United States Navy in May of 1944, and served on a PC-603 Patrol Craft as a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class.

Dean was united in marriage to Betty Fellers on Feb. 4, 1944, at Lexington. The couple recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. To this union four children were born, Diana, Tom, Dixie and Ed.

Dean was involved in farming and ranching all of his life. He was the head cattle buyer for 30 years for Cornland Dressed Beef in Lexington. Throughout his lifetime he was awarded several honors. He was chosen Young Farmer of the year in 1958. In 1963, he was awarded the Omaha World Herald's Sportsman of the year. He and his wife Betty were elected commander and president, respectively of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its auxiliary April 4, 1950, the year the Lexington Veterans Club was built. That same year he coached a group of young boys who won a marble tournament. He was involved as a coach with American Legion Baseball and Basketball for many years.

Thelma J. Rhone, 84, of Lexington, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; husband, Vaughn in 1999; and son, Randy in 2001.

She was born March 13, 1923, at Lexington, to Joseph P. and Lucy A. (Fagot) Lauby. Thelma was raised around Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Vaughn K. Rhone on July 15, 1944, at Lexington. One child was blessed to this union, Randy.

Thelma enjoyed being a housewife and mother, and working outside the home at the ASCS Office for 11 years, as well as spending 29 years at Farmer's State Bank in Lexington. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Thelma was always very active in the church, she enjoyed helping wherever possible.

She loved playing bridge and spending time with family and friends. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann's Catholic Church or the donor's choice.

Dick J. Nelson, 83, of Aurora, formerly of Lexington, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at Memorial Community Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation was Tuesday, June 19, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Survivors include: His wife of 60 years, Iryl Nelson of Aurora; two sons: Russ (Linda) Nelson of Woodbury, Minn. and Al (Sandra) Nelson of LaVista; one daughter: Cindy (Valta) Ross of Aurora; one brother: Bill (Meg) Nelson of Omaha; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, an older sister, LaVere and his infant son, Terry Dick Nelson.

He was born Nov. 24, 1923, at Lexington to Albert and Elsie (Stanford) Nelson. Dick attended school at Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School. He then went on to further his education for two years of post-graduate school. He entered the United States Coast Guard in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946.

He was united in marriage to Iryl Tomasek on Jan. 2, 1947, at the United Methodist Church in Lexington.

Dick farmed the majority of his and especially enjoyed the fall and running the combine! He also owned a gas station, salvage yard, managed the Co-op and was a policeman. He lived in Lexington, Aurora, Edison and Elsie.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, as well as the American Legion.

Norma J. Warren, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington.   

She was born November 26, 1923, in Dawson County, Nebraska, to Hunter and Laura (Lobdell) Delap. Norma attended country school at District #59 and went on to graduate from Lexington High School with the class of 1941. She then went to beauty school in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Paul Warren on January 16, 1943, at Lexington, Nebraska. Norma and Paul lived on the farm until their retirement in 1981, when they moved to Lexington. Norma had a beauty shop in her home for many years.

She was a member of the Lexington Christian Church and enjoyed being involved in many facets of her church family. She was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary as well as the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary.

Norma enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

Survivors include one son; Terry (Mary Jo) Warren of Ashland, Nebraska. Daughter: Elizabeth Lockman of Kearney, Nebraska. Four grandchildren: Shawn Wheeler of Omaha, Nebraska, Trevor (Sarah) Warren and their son Lloyd of Santa Monica, California, Matthew Warren of Omaha, Nebraska, and Cherie Quintana and her three sons, Brandon, Wesley and Adrian Quintana of Lexington, Nebraska.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 2005; brother, Jack and son, Gary in 1966.

Evelyn M. Hofferber, 86, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.

She was born May 12, 1923, at Overton, Nebraska to John and Nellie (Reynolds) Wissbaum. Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Lexington High School and went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska. After college she moved to Grand Island to work at the Munitions Plant and then moved to Denver for a short time. Upon her return to Nebraska, she was united in marriage to William G. Hofferber on March 16, 1949 at Lincoln, Nebraska. Three daughters were blessed to this marriage; Linda, Janet and Lori.   

Evelyn did not work outside the home until her youngest daughter went to college. She then worked for Westside Care Home and the Lexington public schools in the Dietary departments.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school and active in circle. She was also active in 4-H when the girls were younger and the Golden Hours Extension Club.

Evelyn was always active and very social. She enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. An excellent cook, Evelyn and Bill's home was the hub of many family gatherings and she would beat the socks off anyone playing cards! She will be so very missed by her loving family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters: Linda (Don) Anthony of Lexington, Janet (Norman) Nott of Grand Island, Lori (Kim) Kitzing of Gothenburg, Nebraska.   Nine grandchildren: Phillip (Stephanie) Anthony of Hudson, Wisconsin; Kirsten (Andy) Trachsel of Athens, Ohio; David Anthony of Lincoln, Nebraska; Christine Nott of Omaha, Nebraska; Kyle Nott of Cairo, Nebraska; Kari (Cory) Williams of Boston, Massachusetts; Andrew (fiancĂ© Lori Lepelletier) Kitzing of Berkeley, California; Amy Kitzing of Marysville, Kansas and Adam Kitzing of Lincoln, Nebraska. Three great-grandchildren: Karoline & William Anthony of Hudson, Wisconsin & Andersen Trachsel of Athens, Ohio. One sister-in-law: Dorothy Baradics of Clearwater, Florida. Evelyn's best friend: JoAnn Small of Lexington, Nebraska.   Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two brothers-in-law, Joe Baradics and Jay Smith and one sister-in-law, Gladys Smith.

Marvin A. Bogner, 88, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday June 3, 2011, at Grand Island Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska.

He was born December 2, 1922, in Central City, Nebraska, to Emil and Marie (Schinstock) Bogner. At 5 years old the family moved to Lexington. Marvin graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1941.

On January 4, 1944, he joined the United States Army, serving in World War II and the European Theater operation. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1946.

On April 7, 1947, in a double wedding ceremony with his sister Joan and Emmett Dustin, he married Winona Forster in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two sons, James and Marlin, and one daughter Kristie.

The family made their home in Lexington where Marvin was an auto parts salesman for Midway Supply for nearly 40 years. They moved to Kearney in 2000. Marvin enjoyed being with his family and friends and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Overton Golf course and after moving to Kearney a member of Buffalo Ridge Golf Course. He was also a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington and later St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, and the Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Winona. Sons: James and wife Jeanne Bogner of Kearney, Ne., Marlin and wife Lori Bogner of Kearney, NE Daughter: Kristie Bogner of Lincoln, NE; Sister: Joan Dustin of Lincoln, Ne; Grandchildren: Joni and husband John Fleck, Jeff Bogner and special friend Rene Jones, Cindy and husband Brock Rowatt, Dave Bogner, and Lee and wife Amber Foster. Along with seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Darlene Marie Buchholz, 90, of Lexington, died Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2013, at Tabitha Greenhouse Care Facility in Lincoln after a courageous battle with congestive heart disease.

Graveside Services will be on Wednesday, Aug.28, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington with the Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Darlene was born March 4, 1923 to Marie (Meyer) and Charles Clifford Ward in Gosper County. She was an only child who took pleasure in doing the farm chores with her family. She especially loved taking care of the animals and feeding the chickens was her favorite task. After her morning chores, she enjoyed riding her black pony to the local country schools, eventually graduating from Lexington High School.

Shortly after graduation, she accepted a job that took her from the farmlands of Nebraska to the city life in California. She met and married her first husband, James Roberts, who was a member of the Armed Forces and after a few short years of marriage he passed away from cancer. She was then united in marriage to Howard Glenn Buchholz and they were blessed with two sons, Charles in 1950 and David in 1955. Family was always important to Darlene and she consistently strived to help others in many different ways. She eventually assisted her aging parents by providing home care and helped manage the family farm.

She was always looking for ways to help people and enjoyed her time working at the Grand Generation Center and the Green Thumb program in Lexington. She was an active member in the local VFW and received an award from them in 2012. After moving to Lincoln, Darlene took time for many hobbies and activities. If she wasn't doing her word-find puzzles, you could find her coloring or painting items to give her friends and family. Her love of animals was always present. She enjoyed watching the birds in the trees outside her window and playing with her family dogs.

Darlene is survived by her two sons, Chuck of Lincoln and David of Cozad, along with her grandchildren, Amanda and Philip with wife Jessica and Krista and Jacob.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Marie; first husband, Jim and second husband, Howard Glenn 'Buck.'

Clarence (Charlie) Fagot died at home, surrounded by his family, March 29, 2014, at the age of 91.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church by the Reverend Monsignor Michael Braun. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Bakersfield.

One of ten children, he was born in Lexington, Feb. 19, 1923, to Olga and Clay Fagot. After graduating from high school in 1941 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country proudly during WWII. He was decorated for service in several campaigns in the Pacific theatre. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, he began what was to become a 43-year career in the oil industry, beginning in Ventura, Calif., where he was employed by Associated/Tidewater Oil Company. In 1963 he relocated his family to Taft, Calif., taking a promotion with Getty/Texaco/Chevron Oil Company. While in Taft he was also affiliated with Sierra Realty and was a member of the Realtors Association. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed fixing anything that needed repairing. He also loved spending time at the family cabin in the Alta Sierra mountains. We will remember Dad by his unshakable and enduring faith in God, his strong work ethic, and his devotion to his family.

He is survived by his four children, Jeff Fagot of Irvine, Calif., Susan Babcock of Atascadero, Debbie (Jon) Williams, Steve (Vicki) Fagot, all of Bakersfield; cherished grandchildren, Stacey (Clint) Blauser, Port Washington, Wis., Andrew Hurst, Curtis Fagot, and Ashley Fagot, all of Bakersfield; great-grandson, Domenic Blauser. He is also survived by his two sisters, Rose (Pete) Kaps and Floralee Ourada; sister-in-law, Anita Fagot of Lexington, and over 50 nieces and nephews. Dad was the "Kingfish" of the Fagot family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister, daughter-in-law, Jo Hemingway, and son-in-law, Randy Babcock.
