Maiden Name: Brand

Gladys M. Knoedler, 92, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed on to meet our Lord, Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Hospice House in Omaha.

She was born September 13, 1915, near Lexington, Nebraska, to Charles and Dollie (Dingee) Brand.

Gladys attended District #37 school at Darr and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1932.

On June 7, 1936, she married Carl Christian Knoedler. In 1941, they moved to a farm northeast of Lexington. Carl died in 1950, just after their last child was born; and she kept the farm going until 1956, when she moved to a ranch northeast of Valentine, Nebraska; then to one nearer Valentine. She later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she worked at Cedar’s Home for Children and Whitehall Children’s Home; and then to Loveland, Colorado where she worked for HP for a time.

When Gladys started refinishing furniture full-time later in life it became a hobby/business. She had always loved working with wood, and taking older furniture and restoring in into beautiful finished pieces was something that gave her great joy.

She loved the Loveland area and her last home there meant a lot to her. Gladys was an avid Bronco, Rockies, Huskers and Avalanche fan. She could always share with you how they were doing on or off-season.

Illness forced her to move to Omaha to be near her daughter and family. This was a time when her faith in God was strengthened and she was ready to join her husband and others who preceded her in death.

Gladys is survived by three daughters: Lola (Vernon) Emery of Ekalaka, Montana
Dorothy/Dot Northwall of Bellevue, Nebraska
Vicki (David) Childers of Lakeland, Florida

Daughter-in-law: Louise Knoedler of North Platte, Nebraska

Sister-in-law: Marie Knoedler of Lexington, Nebraska

Ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; her son, Carl, Jr.; and six brothers, Herman, Harry, Arthur, Casper, Ralph, and Walter.

Services will be Friday, January 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Stan Murdoch officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial will be in the greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Gladys has expressed a desire for memorials to go to organizations that in some way help children get an education; to an educational fund of your choice; or to Hospice House at 7415 Cedar Street in Omaha, NE 68124.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
