Brian Lane Buckley was born on November 8, 1948, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Wilma B. Chadwick and Herschel H. Buckley. He grew up in Cozad, Nebraska, and attended Cozad High School through his junior year. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1967.
After serving in radio communications for the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, he met the love of his life, Charlotte DeLap, and they enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. In 1975, they moved to Cozad, where they made their home until 1986, when they returned to Lexington. They were blessed with three children: Michael, Blane, and Megan.
In his younger years, has was very active in the Jaycees, loved hunting, fishing, camping, running 5K and 10K races, and attending Husker football games. He also enjoyed writing and drawing in his free time.
He worked for Paulsen's for 33 years as the Warehouse Manager. After retiring in 2016, he enjoyed golfing with his buddies at almost every course in Lincoln, riding golf carts, and watching the Golf Channel. Some of his hobbies included carpentry, following Husker and Kansas City Chiefs football, fishing, writing, and sketching. His happy shopping place was Cabela's.
Brian passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on July 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel, his mother, Wilma, and his brother, Lonnie. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte; his sister, Robin Gibson of Colorado; his sons, Michael (Teresa) of Illinois, and Blane (Sarah) of Lincoln; his daughter, Megan (Clay) Thyne of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Christiana Buckley, Trae Buckley, Emma Thyne, Mathew Thyne, Sydney Thyne, Braxton Buckley, and Dominic Buckley; six great-grandchildren, Leila Buckley, Aspen Buckley, Tyler Buckley, Emirson Buckley, Kennedy Buckley, and Lincoln Buckley; and one great-great-grandchild, Zora Navarro.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, at 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 8701 Adams Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorials may be sent to the family at 2841 Tierra Dr, Apt 313, Lincoln, NE, 68516.
