Charles H. "Charlie" Clark, 71, of Waverly, passed away August 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born in Bertrand, NE on July 11, 1945 to Harold W. and Geraldine (Griffith) Clark. He served as Chief of Police in Lexington, NE for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He graduated from Lexington Senior High School with the class of 1963, and served a full 6 years in the U. S. Navy from 1963-1969. After his discharge from the Navy, Charlie was hired as a police officer in Lincoln, NE in October of 1969. While working he attended college at UNL where he received his BA degree in 1975 and then went on to pursue his CJ degree, in 1976, from UNO. Charlie was then employed with the Lincoln Police Department for 16 years, reaching the rank of Sergeant, before moving to Lexington, NE in October of 1985 to take the job of Chief of Police and kept this position until his retirement. After, retiring in 2010, he moved to Waverly, NE in 2013, where Charlie got to enjoy being a grandpa and spent time traveling with his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his two favorite girls, his granddaughters.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy; daughter, Rena (Nate) Riley; granddaughters, Ella and Emma, all of Waverly; sisters, Norma Henry, Cozad, NE, Charlotte (George) Wence, Kearney, NE, Linda (Jim) Carlson, Lexington, NE; brothers-in-law, Jack Reeves, Cozad, NE, and Randy (Dorothy) Phipps, Grand Island, NE; sisters-in-law, Lisa Phipps, and Rhonda (Tony) Cox, all of Lincoln; son, John Clark; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ray Phillips; mother and father in law, Jay and Marlene Phipps; son, Ryan; sisters; Twila Phillips, Connie Reeves, and Bette Carlson; brothers-in-law, Alan Phillips, Don Henry, and Fred Carlson; nephews, Danny Henry, Scott Carlson; niece, Margaret; great-nephew, Stevie Everett, and great-niece, Lily Mae Davis.
