Larry Conyers, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Lexington Regional Medical Center in Lexington.   

Larry was born December 16, 1940, at Minden, Nebraska to Cecil and Marie (Quadhamer) Conyers. He moved with this family to Lexington as a young boy. He attended elementary school at Lexington and was a 1959 graduate of Lexington High School.     

Larry was united in marriage to Susan Rager on August 14, 1981 in Lincoln, Nebraska. One daughter, Denna, was blessed to this marriage.     

Larry worked for Salisbury Ford from 1970 to 1980, he then opened his own shop, Conyer's Automotive in 1980, retiring in 2004.     

Larry's love was racing late models at Dawson County Speedway. He raced from 1974-1979, then 1983-1993, and was the speedway promoter from 1984-1992.     

He loved to play cards, NASCAR, talk about and work on cars, but, most especially, he loved having his daughter and family home to visit. The grandchildren were his world and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Larry will be so missed.     

Survivors include his wife of 30 years: Susan Conyers of Lexington, NE, One daughter and son-in-law: Denna and Kyle Dungan of Marshalltown, IA, Two grandchildren: Makenna and Jameson Dungan of Marshalltown, IA, One nephew: Darin Racek of Lexington, NE.     

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Tom Racek and niece, Theresa Racek.     

Larry's last wishes were that his body be donated to scientific research. There will be no visitation.     

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating.
