Viola L. Woodside, 76, of Lexington, Nebraska, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Lexington Regional Health Center.
Viola was born August 12, 1938, the 6th child to Axel Harold and Rosa Karoline Josephine (Schwarz) Woodside. There were 12 children in the family.
She attended school in Lexington, graduating with the class of 1957. Viola spent her life working up until the day she went to the hospital for the last time. She held a variety of jobs throughout the years; which included, Lexington Laundry, Sperry New Holland, and most recently Plum Creek Care Center. Viola was very proud of the fact she missed very few days of work during her career.
She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran church in Lexington.
Viola was an avid game player. She took great pleasure in beating you at a game of marbles, outscoring you in Yahtzee, or shouting BINGO before you at the many local area bingo games she attended. When at home, Solitaire was the game she played to compete against herself. Such an avid Bingo player, that in the hospital she insisted that Donnie go down to the Grand Generation Center to let them know she wouldn’t be attending that night. He reassured her that would be accomplished when she didn’t show up.
Viola is survived by her children; Lisa (Gordon) Peters of Aurora, Nebraska, Donnie (Melissa “Pete”) Woodside of Lexington, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Andrea Peters (and fiancé Eric Hunnicutt) of Aurora, Nebraska, Jaylen Peters of Aurora, Nebraska, and China Woodside of Lexington, Nebraska;three brothers, Mick (Rita) Woodside of Kearney, Nebraska, Wayne (Pat) Woodside of Odessa, Nebraska, and, Bernard (Judy) Woodside of Holdrege, Nebraska. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Axel & Rosa, grandson, Travis Peterson, granddaughter, Cynthia Woodside, one son-in-law, two sisters, Lena & Dorothy, and six brothers, Leonard, Terry, Dick, Delbert, Paul and LeRoy.
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.
Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery near Lexington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Artie Marie (Boggs) Smith, age 78, of Lexington, Nebraska died November 24, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center East Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Artie was born on June 10, 1939 in Lexington, Nebraska to Darrell & Clara (Jolliffe) Boggs where she grew up and attended Lexington High and graduated with the Class of 1957.
Artie was united in marriage to Irl Morris Smith on April 15, 1961, at Berean Fundamental Church by Pastor Keith Blood.
Artie was employed over 25 years at the Lexington Dry Cleaners as a master seamstress. Artie enjoyed many hobbies: camping, playing cards, going out to eat with friends (favorite was Olive Garden) baking desserts like her famous brownies, board games, sewing for many friends & relatives. She loved to go out with her sister Darla for coffee & shopping @ Wal-Mart visiting friends at the Plum Creek HealthCare Community many times a week. Artie enjoyed watching tennis, baseball (Cubs was her favorite team) and many other sports. Artie & Irl enjoyed camping and going to musical festivals and trying different places to eat at. Artie enjoyed spending time with her family. She always showed unconditional love for her grandchildren and special care for them.
Artie is survived by her husband: Irl Morris Smith of Lexington , Nebraska, daughter Jennifer (Roger) Summer of Elwood, Nebraska, son Christopher (Alayna) Smith of Lexington, sister Darla (Melvin) Bye of Overton, sister Linda (Wayne) Maaske of Bertrand & brother Franklin (Donna) Boggs of Bertrand, 5 grandchildren Haley, Julian, Logan, Taylor & Blake 1 great-grandson Grayson, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.
Artie was a member of the Berean Fundamental Church for over 60 years.
Artie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles.
Artie was a Christian and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior.
Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with Pastor Duane Russell officiating.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

TERRA ALTA — James “Jim” (Harold) Adams took his place in Heaven on Jan. 7, 2017.
He was born Dec. 7, 1937 in Howard, Kan., son of the late James Homer and Alice Laura (Anderson) Adams.
Jim joined the Air Force in 1957 and was honorably and medically discharged in 1959 after losing his right index finger in Okinawa, Japan.
On May 20, 1961, he married Carolyn Fay Gelvin. To this union, four daughters were born: Angela, Sandra, Ronda and Sharla. He spent most of his life in Lexington, Neb. and worked for Nebraska Public Power District’s Department of Irrigation. After 30 years with the company, Jim retired in 1997 and moved to Superior, Nebraska.
On Aug. 12, 2011, Jim and his “man’s best friend” Bernese Mountain Dog, Brutus, made their way to Terra Alta, W.Va. to live with his daughter Ronda.
His favorite thing to do here was driving the back roads of Preston County, soaking up the scenery and going ramp hunting. He loved the trees and mountains, and constantly made mention that “Mama would have loved it here.”
Jim spent most of 2015 and 2016 in and out of hospitals with emphysema, pneumonia and COPD. He was resting comfortably when he finally succumbed to his illnesses at Preston Memorial Hospital surrounded by several family members.
He is survived by daughters Angela Moody, of Neligh, Neb., Ronda (Billy) Stump, of Terra Alta, and Sharla House, of Neligh; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and extended grandchild Derrick Loughry.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn; a daughter, Sandra; a great-grandson, Mason James Kramp; brothers Homer “Bud,” Billy and Larry; sisters Jeanette Dorner and Donna Brandenberg; niece Melodee Martinez and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jim will be cremated and laid to rest with the love of his life in Byron, Neb. on May 20, 2017, which would have been their 56th wedding anniversary.
Friends and family will be received at 12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 at Whitedale Church of the Brethren in Terra Alta. A luncheon will follow.

Larry G. Burkey, age 77, of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at the Jennie Melham Memorial in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held Friday Dec. 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating including military rites. Burial will be at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at Eddyville. Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Larry Burkey was born Dec. 25, 1938 in Elm Creek to Lyle F. and Elaine (Sweny) Burkey. Larry attended school and graduated from Lexington High School in 1957.
Following his graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served honorably and faithfully for three years.
On January 18, 1988 Larry married Eileen O’Meara in Lincoln. Larry worked as a salesman in Broken Bow.
He enjoyed golfing and shooting pool with the company of his friends at the Prairie Pioneer Center. Larry also enjoyed fishing with his wife, Lee, as well as the occasional trips to the casinos they would make together.
Larry is survived by his wife, Eileen Burkey of Broken Bow; one son Lance (Sherri) Burkey of Warren, Pa.; two daughters Lisa (Randy) Roti of Auburn and Monica (Mark) Sleicher of Sumner ; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; one sister Deannah (Rod) Fetters of Bertrand.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.

Dian Rose Rohnert McConnell, 66, of Lexington, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, with Rev. Megan Morrow officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her father, John Rohnert of Lexington; three sons, Kelly Shea McConnell of Marysville, Kan., Michael Shawn (Marge) McConnell of North Platte, and Timothy Jon (Deborah) McConnell of Grand Island; a daughter, Kimberly Kay McMahon of Kearney; two sisters, Jo (Keith) Swartz of Lexington, and Cindy (Gary) Flint of Lexington; grandchildren, Angelia and Ronald McConnell, Michaela McConnell, Kaitlyn and Brian McMahon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Doris in 2001; her husband Gene; and a sister Sheila.
Dian was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Lexington, to John and Doris (Utecht) Rohnert.
She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1957. After high school she continued her education in Omaha where she obtained her LPN and worked at Immanuel Hospital. While in Omaha she met Ronald Gene McConnell. They were married on Aug. 23, 1959, in Lexington. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1976.
The couple lived in Omaha, Hermiston, Ore., Herman, Nebraska, and Lexington. While in Oregon, the couple adopted 18-month-old Kelly Shea. The family would later add Michael Shawn in 1964, Timothy Jon in 1968, and a daughter Kimberly Kay in 1970.
After Gene's death in 1976, the family moved to Lexington in May of 1977. Dian worked for Tri-County Hospital and followed in her parents' footsteps working at the Dawson County Jail for many years.

Charles "Chuck" Ray Willets, age 68, of Columbus, formerly of Lexington, died on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at his home.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Interment will be at the Columbus Cemetery with Military Honors by the #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation was Tuesday and Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home with family prayer service at the church.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie; daughter, Wendy (Troy) Shotkoski of Columbus; grandchildren, Emma and Spencer Shotkoski, all of Columbus; mother Katherine Willets, of Lexington; two sisters, Barb (Bob) Reynolds, of Lincoln and Sharlene (Tom) Hickman, of Woodland, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Mark Witthuhn of North Platte.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Willets and his sister, Carolyn Witthuhn.
Chuck was born on Aug. 16, 1939 in Lexington, to Charles and Katherine (Kumpf) Willets. He grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1965 then he continued his education at the University of California-Riverside, graduating in 1969.
On March 18, 1972, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Michener in Columbus. Chuck worked for Dale Electronics in Columbus, Norfolk, and Yankton. He owned and operated Antelope Lanes in Neligh, and retired from Lindsay Manufacturing in 2002. He was employed at Precision Industries at the time of his death. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion where he served on the American Legion Honor Guard, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Clifford Lee Cox, 70, of Lexington and Overton, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 26, 1938, at Wichita, Kansas, to Martin Lee and Irma Genevieve (Higgins) Cox. Cliff moved to Lexington as a young man and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1957. He then entered the United States Army in 1958, serving until he was Honorably Discharged in 1964. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elaine E. Ringenberg on June 3, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Two children were blessed to this union; Karmajo and David.
After his marriage Clifford worked as a meat cutter at 6th Street Locker & Grocery, which was later purchased by Dwight Trautman. He also worked for the State of Nebraska Road Department, Nash-Finch, Coors of Mid-Nebraska, and owned and operated Cliff's Market in Overton from 1980-1989, but perhaps his favorite job was his last, he worked as a feedlot cowboy for M&M Feeders until he retired in 2007.
Clifford was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, past member of the Jaycees, Overton Fire Department, Civil Defense Director in Overton and also rode with the Pony Express.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease. His loves were his family and when you asked about his grandchildren, he got such a twinkle in his eye. He loved to fish, ride horses, work and always enjoyed every holiday with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Elaine Cox of Lexington, Nebraska, Son: David Lee and wife Darla Cox of Overton, Nebraska Daughter: Karmajo and husband Eric Hill of Lexington, Nebraska, Two brothers: Gene and wife Mary Esther Cox of Stover, Missouri Jerry Cox of Livingston, Louisiana, Two sisters: Marsha Meyers of Wichita, Kansas Michelle and husband, Alan Conine of Wichita, Kansas, Seven grandchildren: Dallas Rae and husband Matt Zimbelman of Lexington, Nebraska; Aryka Leigh Hill and fiancé Alex VanHorn and his two children, Ethan & Evan of Memphis, Tennessee; Skylar Duane Hill and special friend Tanner Richards of Hayes Center, Nebraska; Ryan Lee Cox, Brady Alan Cox, Austin Samuel Cox and Sarah Ann Cox all of Overton, Nebraska.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Marv Belcher and sister-in-law, Nelda Cox.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 29, 2009, at 11:00 a. m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating. The casket will be closed at the church.
