Viola L. Woodside, 76, of Lexington, Nebraska, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Lexington Regional Health Center.

Viola was born August 12, 1938, the 6th child to Axel Harold and Rosa Karoline Josephine (Schwarz) Woodside. There were 12 children in the family.

She attended school in Lexington, graduating with the class of 1957. Viola spent her life working up until the day she went to the hospital for the last time. She held a variety of jobs throughout the years; which included, Lexington Laundry, Sperry New Holland, and most recently Plum Creek Care Center. Viola was very proud of the fact she missed very few days of work during her career.

She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran church in Lexington.

Viola was an avid game player. She took great pleasure in beating you at a game of marbles, outscoring you in Yahtzee, or shouting BINGO before you at the many local area bingo games she attended. When at home, Solitaire was the game she played to compete against herself. Such an avid Bingo player, that in the hospital she insisted that Donnie go down to the Grand Generation Center to let them know she wouldn’t be attending that night. He reassured her that would be accomplished when she didn’t show up.

Viola is survived by her children; Lisa (Gordon) Peters of Aurora, Nebraska, Donnie (Melissa “Pete”) Woodside of Lexington, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Andrea Peters (and fiancé Eric Hunnicutt) of Aurora, Nebraska, Jaylen Peters of Aurora, Nebraska, and China Woodside of Lexington, Nebraska;three brothers, Mick (Rita) Woodside of Kearney, Nebraska, Wayne (Pat) Woodside of Odessa, Nebraska, and, Bernard (Judy) Woodside of Holdrege, Nebraska. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Axel & Rosa, grandson, Travis Peterson, granddaughter, Cynthia Woodside, one son-in-law, two sisters, Lena & Dorothy, and six brothers, Leonard, Terry, Dick, Delbert, Paul and LeRoy.

Funeral Services will be Monday, April 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.

Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery near Lexington.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
