Dorothy (Racek) Runyan, age 73 of Fremont, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at the Fremont Area Medical Center.   

A cremation will take place followed by a private service at a later date. A memorial has been established.   

Survivors include a brother, Robert Racek, Connecticutt; children, Chuck Eggleston and Jean Squires, Friend, Neb.; Kathy (Gary) Burks, Nickerson, Neb., Annette (Bill) Lahner, Sheffield, Iowa; Vicky (Stewart) Mallett, Belton, Mo.; Laura (Denny) Jorgenson and Chris (Celesse) Runyan, all of Omaha; grandchildren, Shannon, Dustin, Eric, Katie, Mat (Nicole), Kelly, Josh (Crescent), Mikala, Alan, Jaxon, J. Paige, Nathan, Alex, Maria, Hollon, and Gage and great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.       

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mable Racek; brothers, Charles, Eugene, John, Tom and Raymond Racek; her sisters, Frances Sather, Mary Trittipo and Theresa Racek.   

She was born March 26, 1934 on the Racek Homestead in Dawson County. She moved to Lexington, where she graduated from Lexington High School. After graduating, Dorothy taught multiple subjects at a one-room schoolhouse in the country outside of Lexington.  She and James Eggleston married and had five children.  

In 1970, she married Arthur Runyan and moved to Omaha. She gave birth to her sixth child in 1971. She worked in Omaha as a private secretary and bartender until retiring in 2005. Upon retirement, she moved to Fremont where she lived at Stanton Tower.
