Sharon K. Hieter, 64, of Lexington, NE died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, NE.  Sharon's wish was to be cremated.  Memorial mass of Christian burial will be Friday, May 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.  at St. Ann Church, in Lexington, NE, with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m.  The Rev. Jose Chavez will celebrate the funeral mass.  Private family inurnment will be in St. Ann Cemetery at a later date.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. 

Sharon was born December 15, 1959 in Lexington, NE.  She was the daughter of Ignac A. and Audrie B. (Jonak) Zeleski.  Sharon grew up in Lexington attending Pershing Elementary School and graduated from St. Ann’s Junior/Senior High School in 1978.  Sharon began her career with the Lexington Police Department transitioning to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office in dispatch and retiring in 2014 as an office manager.  Sharon married Larry Hieter on December 15, 1989, in Grand Island, NE.  The couple made Lexington their home.  Sharon enjoyed crafting, she crocheted many baby blankets and lap blankets for the hospital.  She made thousands of tied rosaries that have been distributed throughout the world.  Her rosaries were included with aid packages distributed by Goya Foods to the war-torn regions of Ukraine.    

Sharon was a lifetime member of St. Ann’s Church in Lexington, NE.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband Larry Hieter of Lexington, NE

Son, Zachery Hieter of Lexington, NE

Step- daughter, Tara Hieter of Cozad, NE

Step-sons, Trevor Hieter of Elwood, NE

                Tyler Hieter of Elwood, NE

Others left to cherish her memory include her five grandchildren

Brothers, Tim (Terri) Zeleski of Grand Island, NE

                John (Sandy) Zeleski of Lincoln, NE

                Steve (Patty) Zeleski of Lincoln, NE

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ignac and Audrie Zeleski.    

Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
